Battery life and charging

The manufacturer rates up to 48 hours of continuous use with default lighting and 60 hours with lighting off; PCMag reports the same figures and Digital Trends describes about two days. Charging is via the included USB cable. Continuous wireless charging is supported through POWERPLAY, but it requires the separate mousepad, priced at $99.99 in PCMag’s test context.

Sensor and tracking

The current manufacturer specification is a HERO 25K sensor rated 100–25,600 DPI, with over 40 G acceleration and over 400 IPS, reporting at 1,000 Hz. RTINGS scored the mouse 8.2 out of 10 and calls click latency excellent and CPI extremely consistent. PCMag tested at 1,000 Hz up to 16,000 DPI with no reporting issues. Tom’s Hardware and Digital Trends both describe the sensor as accurate with no acceleration or stutter.

Weight, size and comfort

Without added weights the mouse weighs 114 g, and RTINGS measured 115.1 g. The body measures 131.2 × 75.2 × 40 mm. Up to 16 g of included weights can be added. The shape suits palm grip, but the large body can be uncomfortable for small hands with any grip, and the weight is heavy for an FPS-focused mouse.

Buttons, scroll wheel and software

There are 11 programmable buttons, and the hyper-fast scroll wheel toggles between free-spin and ratcheted modes; the ratcheted mode is loud. RGB has 2 zones under LIGHTSYNC but sits under the palm, so it is not visible in use. Onboard memory stores profiles, and G HUB handles firmware and software updates. The mouse feet are PTFE with a 250 km range.

Is it worth it?

At $119.99 direct from Logitech, the G502 LIGHTSPEED is a feature-dense wireless mouse with a proven shape, 11 buttons, tunable weights and POWERPLAY support, but it is heavy and lacks Bluetooth. At the $149.99 MSRP it competes with newer, lighter wireless mice; justified only if the G502 shape and button layout are specifically wanted. Rough value guide: at or below $99 is strong value; $100–$129 is good, especially for palm-grip users wanting many buttons; $130–$149 is fair; above $149 is weak unless the G502 form factor is a specific requirement.
