Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A slim, bi-color desktop LED key light for streamers and desk workers who want one compact light on a telescoping stand. Check your USB port before buying: full brightness needs a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port or a 5V 1.4A adapter, and a plain port can cap output well below maximum.

Strengths

  • ZDNET called it one of the best, simplest and most purpose-built lighting solutions it has used.
  • A single unit is enough for most streamers, per ZDNET.
  • The 93 CRI and 2700-6500 K range reproduce natural skin tones accurately.
  • Three 1/4-20 mounts let it attach to the included arm, a third-party arm or a tripod.
  • On-device and G HUB control with saved presets make adjustments quick.
  • Flicker-free, UL-rated output suits all-day streaming.

Weaknesses

  • Output is reported two ways: 400 lumens on the spec sheet versus 320 lumens at 7W on the support page, with no Logitech clarification.
  • Full brightness needs a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port or a 5V 1.4A adapter; a plain port can cap output at 59%.
  • The straight USB-C cable has no right-angle option and cable routing can interfere with adjustments.
  • The light bar cannot fold flat onto the stand for storage.
  • No mobile app for Bluetooth control; phone control relies on the on-board buttons.
  • Warranty is inconsistent: 2 years on the spec sheet versus 1 year on retail listings.

Output and color

The specifications are stable across sources: 2700 K to 6500 K color temperature, 93 CRI (which Logitech says was measured by an independent study in January 2022), a precision sculpted optics lens and a proprietary frameless diffuser. Independent reviews are favorable. ZDNET found the light output fills a frame extremely well and that color temperature gave a pleasant skin cast with less fuss than softbox lights. Windows Central found 320 lumens more than adequate as a task light and ambient source, and that 93 CRI reproduces natural colors accurately. CGMagazine described it as a simple light with a lot of range. T3, initially skeptical it was just a glorified desk lamp, concluded it changed how he creates videos, citing 400-lumen output and the 2700-6500 K range. One owner tested it against twin Elgato Key Lights and found it softened shadows and added eye sparkle, concluding it exceeded expectations.

The one number buyers should read carefully is output. The Logitech distributor spec sheet and ZDNET publish 400 lumens, while Logitech’s support specification page says 320 lumens at 7W power input and Windows Central lists 320 lumens. B&H’s “320 Lux via USB 3.0 Port” is a different metric again. The practical takeaway is that full brightness depends on a capable USB port: one owner was capped at 59% from a monitor USB port and reached full output only from a powered port.

Mount and setup

The included desktop stand telescopes from about 37 cm to 61.5 cm on a 150 mm base, and the light bar is 400 mm long and 30 mm square, weighing 185 g. Three 1/4-20 threads let it mount to the included arm, a third-party arm or a tripod. Logitech requires a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port or a 5V 1.4A adapter for full brightness.

Software and controls

The light works on its own from any powered USB port, with power, brightness, color temperature and Bluetooth pairing on the back of the bar. Plug it into a Windows 10 or macOS 10.15 computer and G HUB adds sliders, presets and saved settings over USB or Bluetooth; LogiTune can only switch the light on and off. ZDNET lists no mobile Bluetooth app as a con, so phone control relies on the on-board buttons. Logitech’s own G HUB release notes record a macOS temperature-slider bug and a system-tray sync bug for this light.

Repairs, parts and running costs

There is no battery to wear out and no filters to replace, so the only recurring cost is the electricity to run a USB light. Logitech’s support page lists no spare parts for this model, so it is not user-serviceable. Warranty is inconsistent: the older spec sheet says 2 years, while B&H and Dell list 1 year. Keep the diffuser clean. Logitech US lists the light at $119.99, with a $99.99 sale price shown on the Logitech G storefront, and B&H lists it at $119.99 new with a used example at $54.95. TechnologyGalaxy lists $119.99 and Global Channel Online lists $110.88 against an MSRP of $119.99. Earlier reviews listed MSRPs of $99 to $100.

Is it worth it?

At or below $100, the Litra Beam is strong value for a single compact key light: bi-color 2700-6500 K, 93 CRI, three mounting points, telescoping stand, USB and Bluetooth control, and a 2 m cable in the box. Around $110 to $120 it remains fair for buyers who want the Logitech desktop form factor and G HUB integration; at that price, higher-output key lights become nearby alternatives. Above $120 it is weak unless the exact form factor or the Logitech ecosystem is specifically required. The unresolved lumen and warranty figures are the main reasons not to overpay.

Which model this is

This page covers the Logitech G Litra Beam TrueSoft LED Streaming Key Light, model VR0031, sold in Graphite. The US retail part number is 946-000019; Logitech’s support page lists 946-000006 and the Distrelec spec sheet lists 946-000007, with other regional variants such as 946-000020. These are region or finish variants of the same model. Don’t confuse it with the Litra Glow (smaller clip-on), the Litra Beam LX (dual-sided RGB) or the Litra Beam Studio (newer).
