Summary
An Apple HomeKit-only indoor/outdoor camera with an unusually wide 180° view and a weather-resistant body. Check stock and price first: Logitech’s own store lists it at $159.99 but marks it Sold Out Temporarily, and recording needs a paid iCloud+ plan and a home hub.
Strengths
- 180° diagonal view captures a whole deck or room from one unit.
- IP64 body and 15 ft night vision make it usable outdoors.
- Rear privacy cut and tilt-to-hide are physical, not software, controls.
- No Logitech app, account or subscription, and setup happens in the Home app.
- Video is analysed on the home hub and stored encrypted in iCloud.
Weaknesses
- HomeKit only, with no alternative control path for Android, Alexa or Google homes.
- No 24/7 recording; clips are motion-triggered only.
- Recording needs a paid iCloud+ plan, and camera count is capped by tier.
- Owners report persistent connection dropouts, worked around with a smart plug.
- The outdoor bracket is hard to aim, and the heavy cable can pull the light body off-axis.
- Logitech publishes no manual and no spare parts for this product.

Which model this is
This is the Logitech Circle View camera, model M/N V-R0018, retail part 961-000489, ASIN B085HKNBSX. It is not the Circle View Doorbell, which uses model VR0014 and part 961-000484, and it is not the older Circle or Circle 2 line. Logitech’s own support site publishes no specification sheet, no manual and no spare parts for this camera, so the specifications here come from Logitech’s live product page and from Logitech’s spec block republished by HomeKit News.
Setup and HomeKit
There is no Logitech app and no Logitech account. You power the camera on and add it in Apple’s Home app by scanning its setup code. The 2021 reviewer had it on an Eero 6 Pro mesh network within two minutes without interaction, despite the 2.4 GHz-only radio. HomeKit Secure Video requires a paid iCloud+ plan, with one camera on the 50 GB tier, up to five on the 200 GB tier, and unlimited at 2 TB and above. Analysis of people, pets and vehicles runs on an Apple TV or HomePod hub rather than on the camera.
Image and night vision
Independent testing is thin. No RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, CNET or PCMag test of this camera was found; the two hands-on pieces are from 2021 and 2024. In 2021 Stacey on IoT compared a loaner against a $20 WyzeCam and found the Circle View showed more of the scene with cleaner colour, but judged the brightness as needing a boost and noted it lacks the Doorbell’s HDR. In 2024 9to5Mac re-evaluated a long-owned unit and recommended it as an outdoor HomeKit camera, while naming the need for a power source as its main drawback. Night vision uses two infrared LEDs rated to 15 ft; nobody has published a measured low-light figure.
Running costs
Logitech’s own store lists the camera at $159.99 and marks it Sold Out Temporarily with no restock date. Logitech has kept roughly the same list price since the $159 cited in 2021. Recording needs a paid iCloud+ plan, and the number of cameras is capped by tier. There is no Logitech subscription. Outdoor use needs a weather-protected outlet or an indoor cable run, because the plug is not weatherproof even though the body is.
Reliability and repairs
The clearest exact-model signal is an owner report published in 2024. A reader owning three Circle View cameras says all three had problems: two outdoor units kept losing connection even with a strong signal, and an indoor unit disconnected for no reason. Powering them from a smart plug fixed the outdoor pair; the indoor unit was replaced under warranty after a lengthy exchange in which Logitech required a video proving the fault. The same owner reports the outdoor bracket is “incredibly difficult to attach and aim”. None of this is a failure rate, but it is specific and repeated.
Repairability is poor by design: Logitech publishes no spare parts and no documents for the product, and the permanently attached cable is not field-replaceable from any published source. The warranty is listed as 1 year limited hardware, and one owner confirmed a replacement was honoured.
Is it worth it?
For a buyer already in Apple HomeKit who pays for iCloud+ and needs outdoor coverage, the case is real: a 180° view, an IP64 body, 15 ft night vision and hardware privacy controls, with no vendor cloud. Against that, the price is high for 1080p, the camera is sold out at the manufacturer, the best tests are single units from 2021 and 2024, the main reported fault is connection instability, and there is no 24/7 recording. Confirm stock, price and warranty in writing before buying, and treat the product as near end of life.
