Logitech Circle View Wired Video Doorbell: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-04

Summary

The complaints on this doorbell are almost all about HomeKit rather than picture quality: owners in r/HomeKit and MacRumors threads from 2021 to 2023 describe the unit going offline, silently ceasing to record, freezing, or refusing to join some Wi-Fi networks, and Logitech publishes no spare parts and no warranty length for it. Running it costs an iCloud subscription on top of the purchase, $2.99 per month for one camera with 10-day history, because there is no battery and no local storage. It is a good buy at $199.99 from Logitech in October 2026 only if you already run an Apple home hub and already pay for 200 GB or more of iCloud; otherwise you are buying a doorbell your household cannot use.

Common problems and fixes

Parts and consumables

Yearly running cost

The recurring spend is iCloud and nothing else: there is no battery, no consumable and no vendor cloud bill, and camera recordings do not count against iCloud storage. Logitech confirms 10-day history for one camera on the 200 GB plan, which costs $2.99 per month, and for up to five cameras on the 2 TB plan, which costs $9.99 per month. A year’s cost is twelve times whichever monthly figure applies. Live view works without a paid plan, but you keep no recordings. Two one-off costs sit outside that: an Apple home hub if you have none, which Tom’s Guide puts at another $100 or more, and professional installation through HelloTech, offered at $299.99 including install against $199.99 self-install at launch and described by three reviewers as an additional $100. When it is a good buy

Only one direct retail price was found in the research, and it matches the launch price: Logitech’s own store lists the black unit at $199.99 in October 2026, marked in stock with free shipping and 30-day free returns, and Consumer Reports’ page carries $200.00 against the same model. No price history series was found, so any threshold below is a judgement rather than a tracked figure.

Good buy when you already own an Apple TV, HomePod, HomePod mini or iPad acting as a home hub and already pay for 200 GB or more of iCloud: the marginal cost is the doorbell, and the head-to-toe portrait view, colour night vision to about six feet, and end-to-end encrypted storage with no vendor cloud are real differences. Poor buy when you would add a hub and an iCloud upgrade solely for this doorbell, and no buy at all outside the Apple ecosystem, which has no path to it. Weigh continuity too: Logitech’s CEO said in July 2024 that smart-home products like this were “pretty much gone”, though Logitech later confirmed in writing that the line is still in production and sold, no successor has been announced, and the unit needs no Logitech server to keep working.
