Image, focus and field of view

The C920 captures 1080p at 30 fps through a glass lens with autofocus and RightLight 2 light correction, with a 78-degree diagonal field of view (70.42 horizontal, 43.3 vertical). No instrumented measurements (sharpness, low-light thresholds, latency) were published in the reviews read, so image quality claims rest on reviewer judgement.

Audio and lighting

Stereo microphones are built in with a stated range up to 3 ft (1 m). Reviewers flag microphone quality as subpar, so a separate mic is worth considering for important calls.

Privacy, software and support

The original C920 ships with no privacy shutter; that feature belongs to the successor C920s. Logitech Options has reached end of support, with Logi Options+ as the recommended replacement. No warranty duration, repair program or OS compatibility list was found on the original C920 spec page read; the successor page lists Windows 8 or later, macOS 10.10 or later and Chrome OS.

Is it worth it?

Logitech lists the successor C920s at $69.99, and that model adds a privacy shutter and current availability. If the original is priced at or above that figure, the successor is the better buy unless the original’s specific form factor is required.

Which model this is

This page covers the original Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 (model C920), black, with a 5 ft (1.5 m) attached USB-A cable. It is not the C920s (same optics with a privacy shutter), the C920e (business variant) or the C920-C. The Amazon listing for the original is ASIN B006JH8T3S. Logitech’s current US consumer line lists the successor C920s PRO HD Webcam instead.
