Summary
LG’s 2024 flagship 9.1.5-channel soundbar system ships complete with a wireless subwoofer and two wireless rear speakers, aimed at buyers who already own a recent LG OLED and want the first-party extras. Check the price before you buy: at the $1,500 launch price it trails the better-reviewed Samsung Q990D on height and subwoofer control, while deep discounts flip the value.
Strengths
- Easy, mostly wireless setup with AI room calibration that now includes the rear speakers.
- Complete out-of-the-box surround package: bar, wireless subwoofer and two wireless rears.
- Strong LG TV integration via WOW Orchestra, WOWCAST and WOW Interface.
- Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support with 4K/120 Hz passthrough for consoles.
- Effective at low volume, with a Night Time mode.
- Gets loud with minimal compression, per RTINGS.
Weaknesses
- Atmos height and verticality underdeliver relative to the marketing.
- Subwoofer quality is polarizing, with boomy, chuffing bass on heavy effects per What Hi-Fi.
- Bar and surround speakers can sound tonally mismatched.
- Only one HDMI input alongside the eARC output.
- Near-useless 3-LED display; most settings live in the app.
- No graphic EQ, and height performance is a noted weakness per RTINGS.

Setup and LG TV integration
Apart from power and a single HDMI link to the TV, the subwoofer and both surrounds pair wirelessly, and LG’s AI Room Calibration now includes the rear speakers and runs quickly through the app. For owners of recent LG OLEDs, WOW Orchestra blends the TV’s own speakers into the mix, WOWCAST links the bar to the TV wirelessly including Atmos and DTS:X, and WOW Interface puts bar controls into the TV menu and remote. TechRadar and WIRED both call setup a strength, and the package needs no add-on purchases.
Sound quality and Atmos height
Reviewers disagree, and the spread matters. TechRadar gave it top marks for performance and an Editor’s Choice, praising immersive surround, plenty of power, strong low-volume intelligibility and an effective Night Time mode. WIRED called it hugely powerful and easy to live with, while noting it can be a touch thinner and brighter than Samsung’s rival. What Hi-Fi was cooler, scoring 3 for sound, finding a tonal mismatch between the bar and surrounds, weak verticality from the up-firing drivers, and a subwoofer that can sound boomy and chuff on heavy effects. RTINGS scores 8.2/10 and lists height performance, no HDMI 2.1 support by their strict reading, and no graphic EQ as cons.
HDMI, formats and gaming
The system supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X plus the full Dolby and DTS format list, and passes 4K at 120 Hz with HDCP 2.3, but only at YCbCr 4:2:0 chroma. There is only one HDMI input alongside the eARC output, where Samsung’s Q990D offers two. For a single console or streamer that is fine; for several HDMI sources you will need an external switch or the TV’s own inputs.
Launch MSRP was $1,500 US. Retailer list prices in review widgets include $1,499.99 (LG Electronics) and $1,599.99 (Best Buy). Discounting is heavy: a community-posted Best Buy open-box deal put the full system at $459 in August 2026. At or below roughly $500–600 the system is strong value; around $700–1,000 it is fair value for buyers who specifically want the LG ecosystem features; near $1,500 it is weak value, since testers rate it behind the best in class on height and subwoofer control.
Warranty and support
LG’s US limited warranty covers parts and labor for one year from the original purchase date for the original retail purchaser in the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii and US territories, with LG paying in- and out-bound shipping during the period. An official LG support page exists for model S95TR.DUSALLK with manuals, documents, software, drivers and a downloadable firmware package, so fixes arrive as software updates. Excluded items include cosmetic damage, misuse, incorrect voltage and unauthorized repair.
