Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

Levoit’s large-room ultrasonic humidifier with app and voice control: a 6.2 L top-fill tank, 320 ml/h mist output and a manufacturer-rated 536 ft² range. Check whether you will actually use the app and Auto Mode before paying $10 over the non-smart 650, because nobody outside Levoit has measured this exact model.

Strengths

  • The top-fill 6.2 L tank runs up to 62 hours on the lowest mist setting.
  • 320 ml/h output and a 536 ft² rated range cover a large bedroom or open room.
  • Auto Mode holds a target humidity with ±5% sensor accuracy.
  • The 360° nozzle and blue light-safe night light are useful in a bedroom.
  • VeSync app, voice control and Smart Scene are included, not locked behind a subscription.
  • The box includes a water filter sponge and a cleaning brush, and the warranty is 2 years.

Weaknesses

  • No independent instrumented test of this exact model exists, so the 536 ft² and 62 h figures rest on Levoit’s internal lab testing.
  • Levoit’s own page contradicts itself on dishwasher safety, calling the tank dishwasher-safe in one place and hand-wash only in another.
  • The warranty excludes dishwasher damage unless the manual expressly says the product is dishwasher safe, so hand-wash the tank and silencer cover.
  • Cleaning is a recurring complaint on the sibling Classic 300S, and mineral scale is a real upkeep cost.
  • No user manual PDF for the NeoClassic line was posted on Levoit’s manuals page at the time of this check.
  • No owner posts specific to the 650S surfaced, so treat it as unproven in the field.

Dishwasher safety and cleaning

Levoit’s page contradicts itself. The marketing copy says “The removable tank and detachable tray are dishwasher-safe”, while the feature list directly below says “The Detachable Tray is dishwasher-safe, the water tank and silencer cover are hand-wash only”. Levoit’s warranty excludes damage from dishwasher use unless the manual expressly states the product is dishwasher safe, so treat the tank as hand-wash only. The NeoClassic family page adds “Top rack only, mild detergent, and no heat dry”, which still does not cover a dishwasher cycle for the tank.

Filters, running costs and warranty

The 650S ships with a water filter sponge and a cleaning brush, and Levoit sells replacement filters, descaling pads, aroma pads and demineralization cartridges separately. Aroma pads are sold as a multipack. Expect the recurring cost to be filters and descaling supplies rather than the unit itself.

Levoit’s warranty page, effective January 4, 2023, covers material and workmanship defects for 2 years from the original purchase, with refund, repair or replacement at Arovast’s discretion. It is non-transferable and does not cover products bought from unauthorized dealers. The return policy allows direct purchases to be returned within 30 days of delivery with proof of purchase, requires an RMA number, and lists free return shipping, no restocking fee and a full refund. The 650S page carries “2-Year Limited Warranty” and “30-Day Money Back Guarantee”.

What the independent tests actually cover

Nobody outside Levoit has measured this machine. RTINGS’ humidifier index lists 26 tested models, two of them Levoit, the Classic 300S and the LV600S, and no NeoClassic. Consumer Reports rates the Classic 300S as recommended for rooms up to 505 square feet, calls it excellent in performance and records no discernible flaws, with humidistat accuracy its lowest score at 3 on its five-point scale. Those are brand-platform signals, not measurements of the 650S, whose tank, output and coverage numbers are all higher.

Is it worth it?

At $79.99 direct from Levoit the 650S is a reasonable buy for a bedroom or open-plan room where the app and Auto Mode will get used. The non-smart NeoClassic 650 is $69.99 and gives up only the smart features, so it is the better value if you will never open the app. The NeoClassic 450S is $49.99 against a $59.99 compare-at price and covers up to 432 ft² at 270 ml/h; the 650S is worth the extra about $30 only if the room is genuinely large. The NeoClassic Max Smart is also $79.99, with an antimicrobial water tank instead of the 650S’s larger tank and higher output. The Classic 300S carries a $80 reference price at Consumer Reports and a $79.99 list price in TechGearLab’s test, and it is the better-evidenced choice if you want published instrumented data behind a Levoit humidifier. Levoit lists the 650S at $79.99 as a regular price, in stock, with the offer valid from 2026-07-19.

Which model this is

The listing title “Levoit Humidifiers for Bedroom Large Room” is an Amazon-style title used across several Levoit listings and does not identify the model. The ASIN resolves to this unit through the ASIN-named image assets on Levoit’s own 650S page, and the spec block matches: 6.2 L tank, 320 ml/h output, up to 62 h runtime, 536 ft² coverage, 26 dB noise and ±5% sensor accuracy. This is the smart NeoClassic 650S, not the non-smart NeoClassic 650, which shares the tank, output, runtime and coverage but drops the app, voice control, Smart Scene, Auto Mode and the blue light-safe night light. Do not confuse it with the NeoClassic 450, 450S, Max, Mini or the older Classic 300S. The Amazon listing is ASIN B0GR99R7XD.
