Summary

A 3.42 lb 15.6-inch budget laptop with an eight-core Intel Core 3 N355, 8 GB of soldered RAM and 128 GB of UFS storage, made for documents, browsing and schoolwork.

Strengths

  • Light for a 15.6-inch machine at 3.42 lb, with a physical webcam shutter.
  • The eight-core Core 3 N355 handles browsing, documents, streaming and video calls; Best Buy buyers of this exact listing report satisfactory everyday performance.
  • Full-size keyboard with numeric keypad, plus USB-C with Power Delivery and DisplayPort, HDMI and an SD card reader.
  • Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, and the chassis passed MIL-STD-810H testing (21 test items).
  • One-year warranty backed by Lenovo’s serial-based warranty lookup and official service documentation.

Weaknesses

  • 8 GB of RAM is soldered with no slots and cannot be upgraded after purchase.
  • 128 GB UFS storage is soldered too; this build has no M.2 slot, and Lenovo rates the UFS 2.2 at closer to UFS 2.1 speed.
  • The 250-nit TN panel covers 45% NTSC and washes out at 15° up / 35° down viewing angles.
  • No touchscreen, no keyboard backlight, no fingerprint reader and no Ethernet on this exact model.
  • HDMI 1.4 tops out at 4K 30 Hz; only the USB-C DisplayPort output does 4K 60 Hz.
  • No independent instrumented review of this exact configuration exists.

Everyday performance and screen

The Core 3 N355 is an 8-core, 8-thread chip with a 3.9 GHz turbo and 15 W base power, released in Q1 2025. All eight cores are efficient cores — there is no Hyper-Threading and no performance-core design — so sustained multi-core work stays modest. Best Buy buyers of the exact N355 listing report satisfactory browsing, video calls, school assignments and portability; one verified owner used it for real-estate work and classes, though long Word documents occasionally slowed. Another owner liked the price and keyboard but complained a little about the display.

The 15.6-inch FHD panel is TN: 250 nits, 45% NTSC, 400:1 contrast, 60 Hz, non-touch, with viewing angles of 45°/45°/15°/35°. Nobody has published measured brightness or color figures for this unit, so treat those as owner reports, not test results.

Storage, memory and upgrades

The 8 GB of LPDDR5-4800 is soldered to the motherboard with zero SODIMM slots; there is no supported upgrade to 16 GB, even though Intel’s N355 memory controller can address more RAM in other computers. The M.2 2242 slot (PCIe 3.0 x4, up to 1 TB Lenovo-tested) exists only on SSD-configured 15ITN9 models, not on this UFS build; Lenovo confirmed the lack of internal expansion in a Best Buy Q&A. Realistic expansion means the SD card reader and external USB drives.

Battery and running costs

The exact 83L7002NUS has a 47 Wh battery, not the 57 Wh option available on other 15ITN9 configs. Lenovo quotes up to 12.1 h of local video at 150 nits for the 47 Wh option and 15.2 h for the 57 Wh — manufacturer estimates, not measured office or browsing hours for this configuration, and no independent instrumented battery runtime exists.

There are no mandatory subscriptions: Windows 11 Home is included, and the Microsoft 365 and antivirus offers are trials you can decline. A replacement Lenovo 65 W round-tip adapter (GX20K16005) is $39.99 on Lenovo US (October 2026); another 65 W round-tip part, 4X21K07718, was listed at $79.99. Confirm tip dimensions and serial compatibility before ordering. The battery itself is a serviceable module in Lenovo’s hardware maintenance material, but the exact FRU and price for 83L7002NUS require a serial-based parts lookup. The warranty is one year, Courier or Carry-in — check serial eligibility in Lenovo’s warranty portal before you buy.

Is it worth it?

Newegg lists the exact 83L7002NUS at $389.99 (October 2026). Best Buy’s exact-model listing showed $399.99 with a $499.99 comparison value, and other October 2026 snapshots showed $363 alongside reseller listings around $368–$385.

At $250–$300 new, this configuration makes sense for simple office tasks despite the TN panel. $301–$350 is fair only if your priority is the lowest possible entry cost. Above $350 the math gets harder: an Acer Aspire Go 15 with a Ryzen 3 7320U, 8 GB, a 256 GB NVMe SSD and a 300-nit IPS touchscreen sat at $419.99–$479.99 in Best Buy marketplace listings, and $400 or more for a non-upgradeable 8 GB / 128 GB TN build is poor future-proofing. Staying in the family, the N150 83L7002KUS was $349.99 at Best Buy, and the Core i5-1335U 82X700KEUS with 16 GB and 256 GB was $549.99.

Reddit owners discussing a closely related 8 GB / 128 GB Slim 3i with the N305 at a $199.99 Best Buy deal in November 2025 called it far better than a school Chromebook and better than 4 GB N150 models — adjacent-model evidence, but it shows where this configuration sits when the price drops.

Which model this is

This page covers the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i 15.6-inch, model 83L7002NUS (machine type 83L7), the 15ITN9 generation sold in Arctic Grey. It is distinct from the older 15IAH8 with a 12th Gen Core i5-12450H and from the newer 15IRH10R / Gen 10 / Gen 11 Slim 3i models that use Core 5 or Core 7 chips and DDR5. The seller’s “Business Laptop” label is marketing, not a ThinkPad-grade service contract. Announced in October 2025, with support ending 2031-02-08.

Reddit threads about other Slim 3 generations describe stiff or broken hinges and weak-feeling plastic after months to years. Those are series anecdotes, not evidence about this exact model, and no failure-rate data exists for 83L7002NUS.

The US Amazon listing for this configuration is ASIN B0HLC93S19.
