Summary
A 12.7-inch Android tablet with a sharp 3K 144Hz screen, a Dimensity 8300 chip and an included stylus and charger — PCMag’s Editors’ Choice for affordable Android tablets. Check the 400-nit brightness before you buy: the screen is hard to read in bright sunlight.
Strengths
- The 12.7-inch 3K display runs at 144Hz and stays sharp at 273 ppi.
- Tab Pen Plus stylus and a 45W charger are both in the box — PCMag notes a charger is rarely included at any price.
- Quad JBL speakers measured 97.0 dB at full volume.
- PCMag measured 8h21m of video playback and a full charge in 1h20m.
- Geekbench 6 scores of 1,406/4,204 handle Genshin Impact at highest settings without slowdowns.
- The aluminum unibody feels sturdy, and the fingerprint reader works well.
Weaknesses
- The 400-nit display is hard to read in bright sunlight and the glass is reflective.
- There is no IP rating for dust or water resistance.
- No 3.5mm headphone jack, no cellular option and no NFC.
- The stylus showed some latency in PCMag testing.
- Setup pushes a batch of preinstalled apps you may not want.
- The 8GB of RAM is soldered, and the 128GB model uses slower UFS 3.1 storage.

Full research notes and sources
Screen and speakers
The 12.7-inch IPS LCD runs at 2944x1840 and up to 144Hz, with HDR10 support. PCMag found it sharp and smooth for multitasking, but 400 nits is a ceiling: the screen is difficult to view in bright sunlight and the glass is reflective. If you plan to use the tablet outdoors, brightness is the spec to check.
Audio is a stronger suit. Four JBL-tuned speakers with Dolby Atmos measured 97.0 dB at full volume in PCMag’s tests, though the bass could not reproduce the deepest test notes. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, so wired listening means USB-C or Bluetooth.
Battery and charging
The 10,200mAh battery lasted 8 hours 21 minutes in PCMag’s 1080p video rundown at full brightness — ahead of the Galaxy Tab A9+ (about 7 hours) and behind the Lenovo Tab Plus (11h50m). The included 45W adapter charged 23% in 15 minutes, 44% in 30 minutes and 100% in 1h20m. PCMag notes a charger this fast is rarely included at any price. The tablet also supports reverse wired charging for accessories.
Performance, software and accessories
The MediaTek Dimensity 8300 (4nm, octa-core) posted Geekbench 6 scores of 1,406 single-core and 4,204 multi-core in PCMag’s tests, with PCMark Work 3.0 at 19,029 and GFXBench Aztec Ruins at 26 fps. Genshin Impact ran smoothly at highest settings and 60fps, though the rear camera area got warm after 20 minutes. Aggregated user submissions on UL Benchmarks show 3DMark Solar Bay at 3,688 and Steel Nomad Light at 881 with 77% stability.
Lenovo’s ZUI 16 software adds PC Mode and multitasking with up to three apps on screen. The tablet ships with Android 14 and is promised two OS upgrades (through Android 16) and four years of security patches. Two cautions from testing: the first-run setup offers to preinstall a batch of apps you may not want, and the Tab Pen Plus showed some latency.
The EU energy label rates the tablet Class A for repairability. GSMArena user opinions report that the Lenovo gray folio cover does not fit perfectly — it needs a push to align the sleep sensor — and at least one user identifies the hardware as a rebadged Moto Pad 60 Pro. Nobody has published a failure rate, so treat these as known annoyances rather than defects.
Lenovo sells a detachable Keyboard Pack and Folio Case as accessories, and the microSDXC slot takes cards up to 1TB for expansion.
Is it worth it?
PCMag’s June 2025 review showed buy buttons at $329.99 and $289 at Lenovo.com, against a $389.99 list price. At $300 or less the value is strong: a large 3K 144Hz screen, Dimensity 8300, included stylus and 45W charger, and quad speakers. Between $301 and $360 it stays fair-to-good against the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ and Lenovo Tab Plus. In the $361–$420 range the competition gets tougher, and above $420 premium Android tablets offer brighter OLED displays and longer update promises.
Which model this is
This page covers the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro 12.7-inch Android tablet in 8GB/128GB, US model ZAE40136US, announced in March 2025. The same hardware comes in 256GB/8GB and 256GB/12GB variants with faster UFS 4.0 storage, and a Matte anti-reflection variant exists in some markets. The US Amazon listing for this configuration is ASIN B0F1NGFSNY. Do not merge it with the smaller Lenovo Idea Tab, the Lenovo Tab Plus, or the newer Idea Tab Pro Gen 2.
