Summary
A 9-inch enameled cast iron skillet for cooks who want cast iron without the seasoning routine, with dishwasher-safe cleanup and a lifetime warranty. Check the size before you buy: the flat cooking surface is only 8 inches across, so it suits one or two servings.
Strengths
- No seasoning; the enamel replaces raw cast iron’s upkeep.
- Eggs and cornbread release cleanly in independent tests.
- Sears steak well and holds heat evenly.
- Light for enameled cast iron at 4.4 lb, with a helper handle.
- Rated dishwasher-safe, so cleanup is easier than bare iron.
- Limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
Weaknesses
- The enamel is not truly nonstick, and food sticks on it.
- The handle gets hot during long cooking.
- Grills and open fire can damage the enamel.
- Thermal shock, steel wool and metal utensils can chip it.
- The “9-inch” size refers to the pan, not the cooking surface, which is 8 inches.

Cooking and cleanup
America’s Test Kitchen tested this exact 9-inch model (LS2024-232) and rated it Highly Recommended, its pick in the 9-inch category. Eggs slid out, cornbread came out golden and clean, and almonds toasted evenly; the pan seared steak and held heat well. Tom’s Guide, testing the larger 10.25-inch version, called out strong searing and easy cleaning.
The enamel is the difference from bare cast iron: it needs no seasoning, handles acidic food, and can go in the dishwasher. It is not truly nonstick, though, and food sticks the way it does on any enamel pan; that does not improve with use the way raw cast iron seasoning does. The black satin interior develops a patina that helps release food, so do not scrub it off.
Heat, handles and care
The handle heats up during long cooking, so keep a towel or mitt nearby. The pan is rated for the oven and broiler up to 500°F and works on gas, electric, ceramic and induction cooktops, but Le Creuset and testers warn against the grill and open fire, where direct heat can damage the enamel. Skip steel wool and heavy metal utensils, and avoid thermal shock like moving a hot pan into cold water.
For stuck food, soak the pan or simmer water in it and scrape with a wooden spoon. Hand washing is recommended even though the pan is dishwasher-safe, since the dishwasher can fade the exterior color over time.
Le Creuset lists the 9-inch at a suggested $195 (Le Creuset, 2026). America’s Test Kitchen saw it at $195 with a $185 sale price when it tested the pan in 2024. The larger 10.25-inch version was $239.95 in Tom’s Guide’s November 2025 testing.
Le Creuset’s limited lifetime warranty covers defects in material and workmanship for the original buyer, and stops if the pan is sold or given away. It does not cover abuse, commercial use, overheating or normal wear, and a replacement in the same color is not guaranteed. There is no re-enameling service, so a chipped interior is a warranty claim or a new pan, not a repair.
Is it worth it?
Buy this if you want cast iron without seasoning, a pan that goes in the dishwasher, and a lifetime warranty, and you value the lighter weight. Below the $195 list price it is easier to justify; at full price you are paying for the enamel, the weight and the warranty.
Which model this is
This page covers the enameled cast iron 9-inch Signature Round Skillet, model LS2024-232, SKU 20182023090001, sold under ASIN B00B4UOGXM. It has a black satin interior and a colored exterior, a helper handle and pour spouts, and it ships without a lid. America’s Test Kitchen’s tested 9-inch unit links to a different listing, ASIN B00B4UOGVO; the two are likely color or handle variants of the same pan. Do not confuse this with raw cast iron or the larger 10.25-inch version.
