Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A 44-inch, 3.1.2 Dolby Atmos sound bar with a horn-loaded center channel, dual built-in subwoofers and an optional 10-inch wireless Flexus Sub 100. Check whether you can live without an HDMI input, DTS decoding and Wi-Fi streaming, because the bar is eARC-only and Bluetooth-only.

Strengths

  • Four front-firing aluminum drivers, a horn-loaded center tweeter, two up-firing Atmos drivers and dual 4-inch built-in subwoofers in one bar.
  • Up to two wireless subwoofers and two wireless surrounds over Klipsch Transport, so the bar can grow later.
  • HDMI eARC, optical, USB-C and Bluetooth inputs, with an RCA output for a wired sub.
  • Dolby Digital, Digital Plus, TrueHD and Atmos decode, plus a two-year US warranty.
  • Professional reviews praised the powerful bass and the spacious Atmos presentation.

Weaknesses

  • No HDMI input; every video source must connect to the TV and pass audio back over eARC.
  • No DTS decoding is listed, so DTS-encoded discs are not a supported input.
  • No Wi-Fi streaming and no HDMI 2.1 passthrough; music is Bluetooth only.
  • What Hi-Fi? found the bass overstated and lacking precision, with vocals recessed in Movie mode.
  • The Klipsch Connect Plus app needed occasional reboots during testing.
  • The Sub 100 works exclusively with Flexus sound bars, so it is not a generic wireless sub.

The driver layout and Atmos

The Core 200 is a 44-inch, 3.1.2-channel bar rated at 185 W RMS with a claimed 43 Hz–20 kHz response and 99.8 dB max output. Four front-firing 2.25-inch aluminum drivers sit beside a dedicated 0.75-inch horn-loaded center tweeter for dialogue, two 2.25-inch drivers fire upward for Atmos height, and a pair of 4-inch built-in subwoofers handles bass. The sealed enclosure is plastic, wood and metal, and Klipsch sells the bar in Black and Walnut finishes.

Inputs and what it omits

The bar has no HDMI input, so every video source connects to the TV and passes audio back over HDMI eARC; the manual’s external HDMI section still routes through the TV. Decoding covers PCM/LPCM up to 8 channels, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Atmos, with no DTS format listed. There is no Wi-Fi, so no Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect or AirPlay 2, and music streaming is Bluetooth 5.2 only. An RCA output and a USB port for firmware updates and MP3/WAV playback from a FAT32 drive round out the connections.

Sound and the app

What Hi-Fi? praised sleek design, powerful low frequencies and a spacious Atmos presentation, but criticized bass that lacks precision and articulation, recessed vocals in Movie mode, and an app that needed rebooting during testing. SoundStage! Simplifi, comparing it with the Core 300, found less surround immersion and bass power but said the sub-$600 price made it excellent value for a 3.1.2-channel Atmos soundbar. Wirecutter’s best-soundbar guide does not list it among its picks.

Is it worth it?

Klipsch launched the bar at £449 / $499 / AU$1445 in January 2025, and the Sub 100 at £329 / $299 / AU$495. SoundStage! Simplifi lists the Core 200 at US$574.99, while What Hi-Fi?’s page, accessed in October 2026, shows the bar at $474.99 through Walmart, Best Buy and Crutchfield listings. Klipsch’s own pages were still loading pricing when checked, so verify at checkout. The reviews put fair-to-good value in the $401–$500 band and weaker value above $500; at $574.99 the bar sits near Sonos Arc territory while lacking Wi-Fi streaming. Add the Sub 100 at about $299 and the combined package moves into the $775–$875 range.

Which model this is

This page covers the Klipsch Flexus Core 200, NA SKU 1071983 (UPC 743878053500), a 3.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos sound bar sold in Black and Walnut, with the Flexus Sub 100 add-on (NA SKU 1072077, UPC 743878066456). Do not confuse it with the Core 100, Core 300, Sub 200 or Surr 100/200, which are separate Flexus products. The Flexus family is sold as expandable, but the Sub 100 works exclusively with Flexus sound bars.
