Summary

A stem-less true wireless earbud that brings active noise cancellation to a sub-$30 price for backup or workout use. Check the charging case before you buy: it has no wireless charging and no separate port, so it charges only through a built-in, non-removable USB-C cable.

Strengths

  • Active noise cancellation at a price where you simply will not find it for less money.
  • Very small, light buds (about 4.1 g each) that stay put through runs.
  • Deep bass and lively treble that reviewers and owners both single out.
  • A deep feature set for the price: multipoint, Google Fast Pair, a 10-band custom EQ and Music and Movie modes.
  • Battery life held up across a full workday in testing.
  • The app lets you remap the touch controls or switch them off entirely.

Weaknesses

  • The case charges only through a built-in USB-C cable; if that cable fails, the case cannot be charged at all.
  • ANC adds an audible static hiss and lets high-pitched sounds through.
  • Mids are weak, the soundstage is narrow, and Bluetooth compression is audible on cymbals and hi-hats.
  • Both ANC and Be Aware struggle with wind, and there is no wind filter.
  • The case feels cheap and its lid has some play.
  • The 2-year warranty settles claims as store credit only, and you pay shipping both ways.

Noise cancellation and sound

The selling point is ANC at this price, and it works, within limits. PCMag found it “largely neutralized” a box fan at full blast and lowered conversation and coffee-making noise in a cafe without silencing them; high-pitched sounds still got through clearly. TechRadar could not get near-silence either, but said the buds “effectively dull external noise,” enough that office conversations were hard to make out at medium-high volume. Two real caveats: enabling ANC adds a light static hiss, and both ANC and Be Aware pick up wind because there is no wind filter.

Sound follows the usual cheap-earbud shape: strong bass, lively treble, weak middle. PCMag’s specific complaint is audible Bluetooth compression, worst on cymbals and hi-hats, plus an unimpressive soundstage; TechRadar describes sparkling treble, impressive bass and a relatively narrow soundstage. An owner on r/JLab reaches the same conclusion, calling the bass good while the mids and highs are “what i’d say keep this cheap,” and summing up the ANC as “$30 anc, so its really good.” The app helps: three EQ presets, a 10-band custom EQ, Music and Movie modes, remappable or disable-able touch controls, and Safe Hearing limits at 95 dB or 85 dB.

Battery life and charging

JLab rates 7.5 h per bud with ANC off and 6 h with it on, for 24 h total with the case or 20 h with ANC on; a 10-minute charge buys about an hour, and a full charge takes under 2 hours. TechRadar verified the seven-hour figure across a full workday at medium-high volume, and PCMag’s heavy testing supports the same traffic-dependent picture. PCMag reports the ANC-on case total as 21 h, so treat the 20 h and 21 h figures as two versions of the same claim.

The case, upkeep and repairs

There is no wireless charging and no separate port, so the case lives or dies by its built-in cable. PCMag states plainly that if the cable fails you cannot charge the case at all, and CNET calls the cable’s extra-short length awkward. There is no user-repairable part and no replacement-part channel for this model; the first documented step for a charging fault is to clean the contacts on the buds and case and check the cable and power source.

JLab also publishes a model-specific manual reset for pairing failures, which tells you the symptom is common enough to document: forget the device, tap each earbud seven times in the case, then remove both. Fit matters for both sound and ANC, and JLab’s own guidance is to try the included tip sizes and twist each bud to seat it. One owner notes the auto-reconnect is aggressive enough that it can be hard to break the connection on purpose.

Warranty and returns

The warranty runs 2 years, and JLab states it consistently across its product, support and warranty pages. Read the terms, though: an approved claim is settled as store credit to jlab.com, not a refund or an automatic replacement; you pay shipping both ways; the term does not restart on a replacement; and you need proof of purchase from an authorized retailer. For a $30 pair, the 30-day return guarantee is the more useful protection.

Is it worth it?

At or below $22 this is close to the floor for ANC at all and an easy pick as backup or gym buds. From $23 to $30 it is still the cheapest credible ANC, but PCMag’s own advice is to buy it for the ANC, not the sound: for $10 more the Tribit FlyBuds 3 is its Editors’ Choice for affordable earbuds if you do not need ANC. Above $31 the value turns weak, and above $35 there is no case for it. Store listings to compare: Walmart has shown it at $29.88, JLab direct at $28.78, and Lenovo and Best Buy at $31.99; those widgets are indicative, so check at purchase.

Which model this is

This page covers the stem-less JLab Go Pop ANC, launched in October 2024. It ships in black, fuchsia and teal, plus transparent neon green, transparent purple, transparent teal and cloud; JLab also sells a Go Pop ANC + Tips bundle that adds cloud foam ear tips. Do not confuse it with the non-ANC Go Air Pop or Go Pop+, the stem-style Go Pods ANC, or the JBuds ANC 3.
