JLab Go Pop ANC: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-18
Summary
The Go Pop ANC is a stem-less true wireless earbud that puts feed-forward active noise cancellation under $30, and it works within limits: a light hiss when ANC is on, high-pitched sounds and wind that get through, and sound that is bass-strong with weak mids and audible compression. The case is the practical weak point — it charges only through a built-in, non-removable USB-C cable, with no wireless charging and no separate port. There is no required consumable or subscription; the 30-day return window is the useful protection, because the 2-year warranty settles approved claims as store credit with shipping paid by the buyer [11][12]. Buy at $22 or less, hold at the $29.99 list, skip above $31.
Common problems and fixes
- Case charges only through its built-in USB-C cable — no wireless charging and no separate port, so if the cable fails the case cannot be charged at all; CNET separately calls the cable’s extra-short length awkward. No user workaround exists — this is the single biggest durability caveat. [14][15]
- ANC hiss, high-frequency leakage and wind — enabling ANC adds a light static hiss, high-pitched sounds get through clearly, and both ANC and Be Aware pick up wind because there is no wind filter. [14]
- Pairing failures, one bud only, or buds listed as separate devices — common enough that JLab publishes a model-specific manual reset: forget the device, tap each earbud seven times in the case, remove both, re-pair. [8][9]
- Case charging faults — one support case had the case stuck near 10% while the buds charged; JLab’s documented first step is cleaning the contacts on buds and case and checking the cable and power source. [19]
- Weak mids, narrow soundstage, audible compression — PCMag flags compression worst on cymbals and hi-hats, TechRadar lists the same signature, and an owner independently agrees. [14][10][17]
- Over-eager auto-reconnect — an owner reports the buds beat almost any other Bluetooth connection and are hard to break on purpose. [17]
- No user-replaceable parts or spares — no replacement tip or case is sold separately for this model, so the warranty is the only service path. [5][14][15]
Warranty: 2 years from the original delivery date, but approved claims are settled as store credit to jlab.com, the buyer pays shipping both ways, the term does not restart on a replacement, and proof of purchase from an authorized retailer is required. [11][12]
Parts and consumables
- Gel ear tips (three sets included) — the only realistic consumable; JLab sells extra foam tips through the Go Pop ANC + Tips bundle ($28.78 direct for black, October 2026) rather than as a standalone tip pack, and no standalone replacement-tip listing was found. [2][5]
- Charging case with integrated USB-C cable (320 mAh) — no wireless charging, no separate port and no replacement-part channel; if the case or cable fails, the 2-year warranty is the recourse. [2][14][15]
Yearly running cost
No required spend: no subscription, no scheduled consumable, and the only realistic wear item is eartip replacement, which JLab does not sell separately for this model. [2][5] No electricity estimate for this model was found in the sources checked.
When it is a good buy
MSRP $29.99. Store snapshots from October 2026 widgets: $21.99 at Walmart and $31.99 at Lenovo and Best Buy (per TechRadar), $29.88 at Walmart (per PCMag), $28.78 for the Black + Tips bundle and $31.99 for transparent purple at JLab direct. [14][10][5][6]
- At or below $22 — close to the floor for ANC at all; an easy recommendation for backup or gym buds, where the hiss, compression and cheap case are acceptable. [14][10][15]
- $31–35 — weak: several stores were showing $31.99 against a $29.99 list. [14][10]
- Above $35 — no case for this model; move up to JLab’s JBuds ANC 3 at $59.99 or the PCMag Editors’ Choice EarFun Air Pro 4+ range. [4][14]
Alternatives: the Tribit FlyBuds 3 at about $10 more is PCMag’s pick when ANC is not required; [14] JLab’s own Go Pods ANC is the stem-style option with hybrid ANC and 26+ h total; [18] the JBuds ANC 3 at $59.99 is the better-tested step up when this model’s limits matter. [4]
