Summary
An 8-quart electric pressure cooker with 10 cooking functions, 28 preset programs and a stainless-steel inner pot with locking handles. It is the top non-air-fryer model in the Instant Pot line, and the two things to know are its 2-cup minimum liquid and the 1-year warranty.
Strengths
- 10 functions including sous vide and a bake (cake) mode, which only this current Instant Pot has.
- 28 one-touch programs plus 5 saveable favorites.
- A stainless-steel inner pot with locking handles that stay put for sautéing.
- A switch steam release with a diffusing cover is gentler than older designs.
- Independent testing reached pressure about 2 minutes faster than a classic Duo.
Weaknesses
- The 8-quart needs a 2-cup minimum liquid, which drives burn messages on smaller batches.
- Sealing rings are a wear item; the maker suggests replacing the ring every 12-18 months.
- Third-party sealing rings void the warranty.
- The US 8-quart has no Wi-Fi, unlike the older Pro Plus.
- Owners report lid plastic cracking after a drop and units that will not seal or leak steam.
- No printed cooking charts or recipe book are included.

Cooking and performance
The Pro pairs 10 functions with 28 preset programs and 5 favorites, and its pressure sensor cycles between 10.2 and 11.6 psi on high and 5.8 and 7.2 psi on low. TechRadar’s hands-on test of the same platform measured a quick release at 72 dB and found the exterior stayed cool: the hottest spot after cooking was the lid at 140 °F (60 °C), while the sides and handles stayed cool, and chicken reached 198 °F (92 °C). Pressure Cooking Today measured the Pro reaching pressure about 2 minutes faster than a classic Duo. For the 8-quart, the manual sets the minimum pressure-cooking liquid at 2 cups (500 mL), which is more than the smaller models need.
Running costs and upkeep
The lid and inner pot are dishwasher-safe, but that also ages the sealing ring, so hand-washing is gentler. The genuine 8QT ring (SKU 211-0006-01) should be replaced every 12-18 months, or every 6-12 months to avoid discoloration and odors; third-party rings void the warranty. Beyond the ring, clean the steam-release diffuser and condensation chamber, and keep the float valve clear. Instant Pot sells genuine 8QT parts, including the lid, the stainless-steel pot with handles, the float valve and the steam release pack, which helps repairability, though no control-board or heating-element service parts were found.
Owner reports
Owners praise the capacity, the versatility and the handled inner pot, and one 8-quart owner reports it does not burn food because the larger pot needs more liquid. The recurring complaints are lid plastic breaking after a drop with replacement lids hard to find, pots that never seal or leak steam even with a new gasket, sealing rings that stretch and degrade, and burn messages that hit the 8-quart more often than the 6-quart. A BBB complaint against Instant Pot Brands describes a return denied for being one day past the 30-day window. These are anecdotal signals, not defect rates.
Which model this is
This page covers the 8-quart Pro 80, SKU 113-0044-01. It is not the 6-quart Pro (1200 W), the earlier Pro Plus, the 2025 UK Pro, the Pro Crisp or Duo Crisp air-fryer-lid models, or the Duo, Duo Plus and Rio lines. The US 8-quart has no Wi-Fi. The Amazon listing is ASIN B09L4YYGVF.
Is it worth it?
Discounts have put it near $149.99 at Best Buy and $199.00 at Walmart, down from $255.02, and CNET lists the 8-quart at $190 at Best Buy. Under $150 the sous vide, bake mode and ergonomics justify the jump over the Duo line; as the price approaches $200, the air-frying Duo Crisp becomes the stronger buy unless you specifically want no air fryer.
