Summary
A 16-inch AMD convertible for prosumers who want a big OLED touchscreen, 24 GB of memory and Copilot+ AI features without Spectre prices. The spec to check first is the display: this configuration’s 2K OLED runs at 60 Hz and 300 nits, below the 3K panel on the pricier models.
Strengths
- 24 GB of memory and a 1 TB SSD give plenty of headroom for multitasking and storage.
- The 2K OLED panel covers 100% DCI-P3 and has better contrast than the IPS screens on cheaper AMD models.
- A 50 TOPS NPU puts it in the Copilot+ PC class for on-device AI features.
- Build quality is solid aluminum with minimal flex, and the hinge rotates a full 360 degrees.
- USB4, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 keep the connectivity current.
- Reviewers of the line praise the display quality and the value for the money.
Weaknesses
- The exact cc0731nr configuration has almost no independent testing; most reviews cover Intel models with different screens.
- The 2K OLED runs at 60 Hz and 300 nits, well below the 3K OLED’s 120 Hz and 400 nits SDR on higher-end configurations.
- Memory is soldered, so 24 GB is the ceiling for this configuration.
- Predecessor owners report battery life far below HP’s advertised 20+ hours, some as low as 5 hours of light use.
- Consumer Reports’ member survey flags HP laptops at this price for swelling batteries and internal hardware faults.
- AMD models get USB4 rather than Thunderbolt 4, and there is no SD card reader.

Battery life
Consumer Reports tested a closely related AMD Ryzen AI 7 445 unit with 16 GB of memory and measured 16.25 hours of web browsing and 21.25 hours of 4K video playback, but rated its performance as good yet below many other tested laptops. Predecessor Ryzen AI 7 350 owners report much less: one HP community user got a maximum of 5 hours of light use (a projected 8 hours) against HP’s advertised 20+ hours, and HP support acknowledged reports of 5–8 hours while pointing to future firmware updates. The 70 Wh battery here is only slightly larger than the predecessor’s 68 Wh, so treat the long runtime claims as lab numbers until the Ryzen AI 400 series has more real-world data.
Display and configuration
The 2K OLED is the main draw: OLED contrast and full DCI-P3 coverage, which the cheaper IPS configurations do not offer. But this panel runs at 60 Hz with 300 nits SDR, while the 3K OLED on higher configurations is 120 Hz with 400 nits SDR and 500 nits HDR, and the 2K resolution (1920 x 1200) sits below the 3K’s 2880 x 1800. Most professional reviews tested Intel units with the 3K panel; Notebookcheck measured that one at 381 nits SDR and 561 nits HDR, numbers that do not describe the cc0731nr. The 24 GB of LPDDR5x-8000 is generous for the class, but it is soldered, so there is no upgrade path.
Reliability and repairability
HP provides a 12-month limited warranty with 12 months of free phone support. Memory is soldered and there is no room for a second SSD, so buy the capacity you need up front. Consumer Reports’ member survey found HP laptops at this price stood out for swelling batteries and internal hardware malfunctions, a caution signal rather than a measured rate. Some owners of the earlier AMD model report double-adjacent-letter typing, and one had a non-functional USB port that HP replaced.
Prices and value
The 16-cc0000 series starts at $1,499 in the US for base AMD configurations and rises to $2,579 for higher-end models (Notebookcheck, 2026). The exact cc0731nr street price was not captured in this research. The predecessor 16-ar0000 series with a Ryzen AI 7 350, 24 GB, 1 TB and a 2K IPS panel sold for about $850 on sale at Best Buy. A May 2026 comparison put Intel OmniBook X Flip configurations at $749.99 (Best Buy), $849 (Walmart) and $879.99 (HP direct). At the predecessor’s sale price the package was strong value; at the 16-cc0000 starting price the value weakens, because competitors at that level offer 120 Hz OLED panels, Thunderbolt 4 and longer reliability records.
Which model this is
This page covers the cc0731nr, part of the HP OmniBook X Flip 16-inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 16-cc0000 series. HP’s listing calls it an AMD Ryzen AI 7 processor with 24 GB of memory and Radeon 840M graphics; that pairing identifies the Ryzen AI 7 445 per HP’s series specification sheet. Do not confuse it with the earlier 16-ar0000 series (Ryzen AI 300, 68 Wh) or the Intel 16-as0000 and 16-be0000 models, which use different processors, Thunderbolt 4 and PCIe Gen 5 storage.
