HP OmniBook X 17-dd0047nr: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-08
Summary
There are no consumables, so yearly running cost is just electricity and any warranty extension, for which no figures were published. The 16 GB of memory is soldered, so buy the configuration you want up front.
Common problems and fixes
- Real-world battery much lower than advertised — an owner of an AMD OmniBook X reports about 5 hours of light use and 1-4% sleep drain per hour, and an HP Support Community user reports 5-6 hours against an advertised 14 or more; neither is the exact Intel model, but both are caution signals. [11][12]
- Soldered memory — the 16 GB of LPDDR5x-8533 is onboard and cannot be upgraded. [4]
- Small storage, no second slot — the 512 GB SSD is the only drive and there is no second M.2 slot. [4]
- FHD 60 Hz display — the 17.3-inch panel is FHD at 60 Hz, below the QHD and 144 Hz panels some 17-inch rivals use. [4]
- No wired networking or card reader — there is no Ethernet port and no SD card reader, so users need a USB-C adapter for either. [4]
Parts and consumables
- Battery (83 Wh Li-Po) — not user-replaceable; no owner replacement interval reported. [4]
- Wi-Fi module (Intel BE201, M.2 2230) — may be replaceable. [3][4]
Yearly running cost
Not enough data. No consumables or user-replaceable parts are required, and the research files give no figures for electricity, warranty extension or software subscriptions.
When it is a good buy
Third-party listings put the 17-dd0047nr at $899.99 at laptopfinder and the 256V/16 GB/512 GB configuration at $1,029.00 at LaptopMedia (both 2026); HP’s store ran a 25% off promotion with code BYESUMMER25 on the line as of that listing. At those figures you are paying for the large touch screen, Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4 and the 83 Wh battery, not for upgradeable memory. If discrete graphics or more storage is needed, the 17-dd0057nr sibling with an RTX 4050 and a 1 TB SSD is the better fit. If you want a newer processor, the announced 2026 17t-de000 with Intel Panther Lake is the step-up model, though it is a different machine.
