Summary
A 16-inch Snapdragon X Copilot+ laptop with a 2K OLED screen, built for productivity and media buyers who want long battery life in a light aluminum body. Check the fixed memory and storage before you buy, because this exact model ships with 16 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD and neither can be upgraded after purchase.
Strengths
- 2K OLED screen covers 95% of DCI-P3 with strong contrast for media.
- Battery life is a standout, with Reddit owners describing days rather than hours.
- Aluminum body weighs 3.48 lb, light for a 16-inch laptop.
- Keyboard gives a near-perfect typing experience in a month-long test.
- Copilot+ features run on a 45 TOPS NPU.
- The bottom cover comes off with four screws, so the battery and SSD are user-replaceable.
Weaknesses
- 300 nits is modest for OLED and the panel struggles with direct reflections.
- The 16 GB of LPDDR5x memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded.
- 256 GB is the base storage tier and a long-term reviewer calls it not enough for almost anyone.
- ARM emulation leaves gaps for some x86 apps, printers and other peripherals.
- The 8-core X1-26-100 is the entry-level Snapdragon X chip, limited for demanding work.
- Speakers stay quiet and lack bass.

Battery life and real-world use
HP claims up to 34 hours of FHD video playback at 200 nits. Independent results land lower. A long-term test of the exact 16-inch model measured about 9.5 to 10 hours of mixed use after a month, CNET tested 28 hours, and PCMag measured 34 hours 48 minutes on the 14-inch Snapdragon X Plus variant, a different screen size and processor tier. Treat the headline figure as a video-playback best case, not a full workday of heavy apps.
Memory, storage and repairs
The 16 GB of memory is onboard, so buy the configuration you need on day one. The 256 GB SSD is the smallest option, and the reviewer who bought this exact model ran out of space almost immediately and planned a 1 TB swap. The bottom cover is held by four exposed Philips screws, and battery and SSD replacement is straightforward once it is off. Running several Visual Studio instances wants 32 GB, which the base model does not have.
Display and build
The OLED panel is sharp and colorful at 2K (1920 x 1200), but 300 nits and a glossy finish make reflections a problem in bright rooms. The lid does not open flat to 180 degrees, and there is no fingerprint reader, so biometric login goes through the IR camera. At 3.48 lb the aluminum chassis is portable for its size; HP’s press materials claim 1.35 kg (2.98 lbs), a lighter figure.
Software, ports and compatibility
This is a Copilot+ PC on Windows 11 Home, with Copilot on a dedicated key and a 45 TOPS NPU for on-device features. ARM emulation is the caveat: some x86 applications and peripherals do not run natively, and owners report trouble with printers and school Wi-Fi. A long-term reviewer found day-to-day speed excellent except for Microsoft Edge with dozens of open tabs, which slowed to a crawl until he switched browsers. The audio jack is output-only.
Prices and value
The exact 16-fb0017nr configuration lists at $699 at HP’s US store, and the reviewer bought it on sale for $579 during a back-to-school promotion. HP lists the 512 GB 16-fb0027nr at $749 and the touchscreen 16-fb0037nr with 32 GB and 512 GB at $899, seen on sale for $759. Windows Central saw the 16 GB/512 GB Snapdragon X model at $809.99, down from $1,099.99, and PCWorld reported the Intel variant at $699 from $899. Under $700 the OLED panel and battery life make it a strong productivity pick; at the higher configurations, compare against Snapdragon X Elite and x86 machines.
