Summary
A 17.3-inch AMD Ryzen AI 7 445 laptop for productivity, streaming and light multitasking, with 16 GB of memory, a 1 TB SSD and a 1080p display. Check the battery and screen before you buy: 41 Wh is small for a 17-inch machine and the panel covers only 62.5% sRGB.
Strengths
- Large 17.3-inch 1080p screen for productivity, streaming and light multitasking.
- Modern Ryzen AI 7 445 with 6 Zen 5 cores and a 50 TOPS NPU.
- 1 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD and 16 GB of DDR5-5600 memory as configured.
- Measured brightness of 374 nits beats the 300-nit rating.
- Light for a 17-inch laptop at 1.96 kg.
- HP Trusted Quality testing covers 25,000 lid openings and 10 million keystrokes.
Weaknesses
- The 41 Wh battery is about 35% below the 63 Wh class median for 17-inch laptops.
- RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded, and there is only one M.2 2280 SSD slot.
- The display covers just 62.5% sRGB, so it is not for color-critical work.
- Testers of the same chassis found no keyboard backlight, an unusual layout and a “rickety” touchpad.
- Same-chassis testing called the Wi-Fi 6 card and the SSD speed slow.
- No verified US price was found for this exact configuration.

The processor and graphics
The Ryzen AI 7 445 is a 6-core, 12-thread Krackan Point chip with a boost clock up to 4.6 GHz, 8 MB of L3 cache and an NPU rated at 50 TOPS. It is a Zen 5 part, well ahead of the Ryzen 5 40 (Zen 2, 4 cores, 8 threads) that Notebookcheck tested in the same chassis; that older chip scored 41.8 points in Notebookcheck’s CPU rating, against 66.9 for the Ryzen AI 5 330 and 73.2 for the Ryzen AI 5 430. The Radeon 840M integrated graphics have 6 compute units, up from the 610M’s 4, but they are not for gaming or heavy 3D work. No instrumented test of the exact dm0761nr was found.
Display and build
Notebookcheck measured the same chassis at 374 nits average brightness (403 nits maximum), above the 300-nit spec, with a contrast ratio of 1679:1 and no PWM flicker. Color coverage is 62.5% sRGB, which is fine for office work and not enough for photo or video editing. The chassis is plastic with a metal-like finish; testers said stability “leaves a lot to be desired”, the lid needs two hands to open and stops at about 130 degrees. The webcam is 1080p but produced blurry images in testing. Ports are two USB-A 3.0, two USB-C 3.1 Gen2 with Power Delivery and DisplayPort, one HDMI 2.1 and a headphone/microphone combo; there is no Ethernet or card reader.
Battery and charging
The 41 Wh three-cell battery is the laptop’s biggest compromise at about 35% below the 63 Wh class median for 17-inch laptops. Notebookcheck still recorded “more than solid runtimes” from the low-power Ryzen 5 40 in the same chassis, and HP claims up to 12 hours for the OmniBook 3 series, but neither figure was verified for the more powerful Ryzen AI 7 445. The tested config charged over a 45 W USB-C adapter; the dm0761nr may ship with a 65 W adapter.
Price and value
No verified US price was found for the exact 17-dm0761nr; the HP US store shows no price for it. For context from other stores: Micro Center listed a 16-inch OmniBook 3 with the same Ryzen AI 7 445, 16 GB of memory and a 1 TB SSD at $899.99, marked down from $1,599.99, and a Staples deal put a 16-inch 2K configuration at $649.99. A July 2026 deal put the base 17.3-inch model at $449.99, and a 14-inch Ryzen AI 7 350 configuration was posted at $392. Roughly $600–800 would be a reasonable value for this configuration; $800–1,000 is questionable given the small battery and limited display, and above $1,000 the soldered RAM, single SSD slot and 41 Wh battery are hard to justify.
Which model this is
This page covers the HP OmniBook 3 Laptop Next Gen AI 17-dm0761nr, product number D46PCUA#ABA, in glacier silver and canvas gray. Do not confuse it with the other OmniBook 3 17 families: the 17-dp0000 series uses older Ryzen 5 40 and Ryzen 3 30 chips with Radeon 610M graphics, while the 17-dk0000, 17-df0000 and 17-dg0000 series use Intel processors. The 17-dm0000 series is the AMD Ryzen AI (Krackan Point) variant.
