Summary
The HP OmniBook 3 17-dk0765nr is a 17.3-inch budget laptop for home, study and desk work, built around an Intel Core 7 150U with 16 GB of upgradable DDR5 memory and a 68 Wh battery. It is the Intel version of a family whose only deep independent test covers an AMD model, so check that the configuration, memory type and price match what you expect before you buy.
Strengths
- User-upgradable SODIMM memory (2 × 8 GB), unlike the soldered LPDDR5 in the AMD and Snapdragon versions.
- A 68 Wh battery that is much larger than the 41 Wh unit in the AMD model of the same chassis.
- The 17.3-inch FHD IPS screen gives more room than a typical budget 15.6-inch laptop.
- The Intel Core 7 150U offers 10 cores and 12 threads for everyday multitasking.
- Two USB-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort, plus two USB-A and HDMI.
Weaknesses
- The display covers only 62.5% sRGB, so the image looks pale and is unsuited to color work.
- Plastic chassis; on the shared design the stability “leaves a lot to be desired” and the lid needs two hands.
- Keyboard backlighting is optional, the layout is unconventional, and the touchpad is described as rickety.
- Integrated graphics only; a 3DMark Time Spy Graphics score of 1836 rules out modern gaming.
- No Thunderbolt, no Ethernet and no SD card reader.
- Large body at 4.43 lb, and no independent test of this exact Intel configuration exists.

Display and build
The 17.3-inch panel is listed at 300 nits and 62.5% sRGB. The closest independent measurements come from the AMD-based 17-dp0451ng, which Notebookcheck found at 374 cd/m² average brightness, 62% sRGB and a 1679:1 contrast ratio, with response times of 21 ms black-to-white and 34.5 ms grey-to-grey; the reviewer called the image “rather pale.” Those numbers are for a different panel and may not carry over to the Intel model.
The chassis is the same shared design: plastic over a Glacier silver cover and a canvas gray base. Notebookcheck called its stability poor, noted the lid opens with two hands to about 130 degrees, and described the keyboard as unlit with an unconventional layout and a rickety touchpad. Keyboard backlighting is listed as optional on the Intel model. Owners of the family’s AMD version most often complain about first-boot bloatware such as McAfee and MyHP prompts, which a clean install clears.
Performance and upgrades
The Core 7 150U’s 10 cores and 12 threads handle browsing, documents and light multitasking. LaptopMedia lists a Cinebench 2024 multi-core score of 539 for the Core 7 150U, against 428 for the Intel Core 5 120U, and a 3DMark Time Spy Graphics score of 1836 for the Iris Xe 96EU. That graphics result means modern games are out; the integrated GPU is for display output and light acceleration. Nothing was independently measured on this exact Intel model, so treat these as the series numbers they are.
The upside is serviceability. This version uses two 8 GB SODIMM sticks that you can replace, where the AMD 17-dp0451ng and the Snapdragon 16-bz0002xx both solder their memory. The AMD model ships a 512 GB WD PC SN5000S SSD that Notebookcheck called slow, and a 45 W USB-C adapter; the Intel model’s adapter wattage is not confirmed. A teardown of the Snapdragon model found a bottom cover on four Phillips screws, a battery held by five screws with no glue, and an upgradable M.2 SSD, though it is not confirmed that the Intel model opens the same way.
Price and value
Newegg lists the exact 17-dk0765nr at $1,429.99 (Newegg, 2026), the configuration with the Core 7 150U, 16 GB and a 512 GB SSD. That sits far above the family’s other versions: Notebookcheck reviewed the AMD 17-dp0451ng at 549 EUR, the Snapdragon X model starts at $530, and a family review puts the range at $600-$700. The Intel model’s real advantages are its upgradable memory and 68 Wh battery against the AMD model’s soldered RAM and 41 Wh.
Judge it on the price you are offered. Near $500-$600 the large screen and everyday speed make sense; the value thins as the price climbs, and above $1,000 the plastic chassis and 62.5% sRGB panel are hard to square with the money.
Which configuration this is
This page covers the HP OmniBook 3 Laptop 17-dk0765nr, part number D18H2UA#ABA, the 17.3-inch Intel Core 7 150U version with 16 GB of SODIMM memory and a 68 Wh battery. Do not confuse it with the AMD Ryzen 5 40 model (17-dp0451ng), which has soldered LPDDR5 memory and a 41 Wh battery, or the 16-inch Snapdragon X model (16-bz0002xx), which has a different processor and soldered memory. The part number is the reliable way to tell the Intel configuration apart.
