Summary
A budget 14-inch Windows laptop built around the Intel N150 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS storage, aimed at students and basic productivity. The 4GB of soldered RAM is the thing to check before buying — it is the primary limit on Windows 11 multitasking.
Strengths
- The 6W N150 sips power, and HP claims up to 11 hours of video playback from the 41 Wh battery.
- At 3.24 lbs it is easy to carry, and the bundled Microsoft 365 year with 1TB OneDrive adds value for students.
- The N150 runs cool and quiet under everyday workloads, and the keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions.
- Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and a USB-C port with DisplayPort cover the basics without dongles.
- HP Fast Charge takes the battery from 0 to 50% in about 45 minutes.
Weaknesses
- 4GB of RAM is soldered in and not upgradeable, and it is the primary bottleneck for Windows 11 multitasking.
- The 1366 × 768 display runs at 250 nits and 62.5% sRGB — entry-level on both counts.
- 128GB of UFS storage fills quickly once Windows 11 is installed.
- One owner reports sustained loads pushing the CPU to 85–90°C with a loud fan.
- Some SKUs ship in S Mode, which blocks software outside the Microsoft Store until you switch it off.
- No US professional review of this configuration exists, so the evidence is thin.

Performance and the 4GB limit
The N150 is a 4-core, 4-thread chip with a 6W TDP and a 3.6 GHz boost, built on a 10nm process. TechPowerUp documents 2,000–2,400 points in Cinebench R23 multi-core, and a UK review of the same platform scored the machine 7 out of 10, calling it a reliable everyday budget laptop held back by 4GB of RAM. That memory is soldered on and cannot be upgraded, and both the review and owner feedback point to it as the main limit on multitasking. Expect slowdown with several applications open at once.
Screen, storage and battery
The 14-inch panel is 1366 × 768 at 250 nits with 62.5% sRGB — fine for documents, dim next to Full HD screens. The 128GB UFS drive is faster than eMMC but slower than NVMe, and Windows 11 leaves substantially less than 128GB free. HP claims up to 11 hours of video playback from the 41 Wh battery; nobody has published a real-world productivity figure, so treat that as a best case. The 45W adapter supports HP Fast Charge, 0 to 50% in about 45 minutes.
Thermals and fan noise
The N150 runs cool at idle — one Reddit owner reports 40–45°C — but the same owner sees 85–90°C under sustained load with the fan getting loud. That is a single report, not a measured pattern, but it fits a 6W chip in a thin plastic chassis. Expect fan noise under sustained load.
Is it worth it?
Best Buy lists the Pale Rose Gold at $129.99 on sale (October 2026), down from a $219.99 comparable value, and the Natural Silver at $219.99. Willow Green runs from $199.95 to $352.21 at Best Buy. At $150 or less, the N150, the bundled Microsoft 365 and the 3.24 lb chassis make sense for a student who lives in the browser and the cloud. Above $200, Windows laptops with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD exist, and 4GB soldered here is hard to justify. After the first year, Microsoft 365 Personal is $69.99 a year at Microsoft — a running cost to budget for.
