Summary

A 1400 W contact grill that opens flat into a 200-square-inch double griddle, with three removable ceramic-nonstick plates and a kickstand bacon mode. Check the evidence before you buy: nothing here has been independently tested, so the case for it rests on versatility and replaceable plates, not measured cooking performance.

Strengths

  • Three removable, interchangeable PFAS-free ceramic plates and a pull-out drip tray are all dishwasher safe.
  • Opens flat to a 200-square-inch double griddle, turning one appliance into a grill, a griddle and a grill/griddle combo.
  • The enclosed bacon mode drains grease away and needs no turning, and the manual gives a specific 7 to 10 minute timing.
  • Replacement plates and the drip tray are orderable individually, so a worn surface does not kill the appliance.
  • The 13 × 16 in footprint is compact for a grill-plus-griddle.

Weaknesses

  • The dial tops out at 400°F, below the 450–500°F range that tested grills and griddles in this category usually reach.
  • Owner-side evidence is effectively absent: no model-specific forum or Reddit thread, and the manufacturer’s own page shows no reviews or questions.
  • There is no timer, no digital readout, no dual-zone control and no smoke-extraction fan.
  • The U.S. warranty is only one year and the owner pays return shipping both ways.

Cooking and configurations

The lid folds down to the countertop, so the closed 100-square-inch grill becomes a 200-square-inch open griddle, and Hamilton Beach counts four configurations — indoor grill, double griddle, grill/griddle combo and bacon cooker — from the same three plates. Temperature is set with a single analog dial from 250 to 400°F, with a red power light and a green preheat light and nothing else. There is no timer, no digital display, no independent dual-zone control and no smoke-extraction fan, so the only variables are the dial, the plate choice and the kickstand.

Bacon mode and cleanup

The distinctive feature is the bacon cooker. You rotate the kickstand dials to lift the back of the unit, preheat to 400°F with the lid closed, lay bacon on the bottom grill plate and close the lid; the manual says regular sliced bacon is crisp in 7 to 10 minutes and drains through the drain hole, with no turning. That timing is the manufacturer’s, not a measured result, and no independent test of this mode exists. Cleaning follows the manual closely: no metal utensils because they scratch the nonstick, no abrasive cleansers or steel wool, never immerse the cord, plug or base, let the unit cool completely before pulling the drip tray, and do not store the grill on its side or back. Plates come off with push buttons and go in the dishwasher.

Parts, warranty and running costs

There are no consumables — no filters, pods or water reservoir — so running cost is limited to replacing plates if they are damaged. Hamilton Beach sells the drip tray for $5.99 and each grid plate for $20.99 (Hamilton Beach parts page, 2026), all linked from the product page; the reseller lists the same parts on the discontinued 25601 page. Internal electrical parts are not sold, so beyond plates and the tray this is a replace-don’t-repair appliance. The warranty is one year in the U.S. and five years in Canada, and in the U.S. the owner pays shipping in both directions.

Is it worth it?

At $90 or less the grill-plus-griddle versatility and the replaceable plates make sense; Hamilton Beach sells the current model direct for $88.99 with free shipping (Hamilton Beach, 2026). From about $91 to $110 it is still defensible if you specifically want the open-flat double griddle and the bacon mode, but Hamilton Beach’s own 3-in-1 Grill/Griddle is $79.99 and should be checked. Above about $110 the case weakens, and above $130 it is poor value, because tested grills and griddles in this category reach 450–500°F while this one is documented at 400°F, and Hamilton Beach’s searing grills sit at $84.99 to $164.99.

Which model this is

The current revision is model 25601MN, sold in black and silver, and the original 25601 is still on Hamilton Beach’s site marked no longer available. Do not confuse it with the 3-in-1 MultiGrill (25600), the 3-in-1 Grill/Griddle (38546MN), the Electric Indoor Searing Grill (25360MN) or the Professional Cast Iron Electric Grill (38560); these are separate models. The Amazon listing for this appliance is ASIN B06XP4H67F.
