Summary

A small 8-inch stainless steel frypan with a 3-ply body and GreenPan’s Thermolon 9G ceramic nonstick coating, oven safe to 600 °F and induction-ready. Know that the glowing independent test scores for the Valencia Pro line come from the hard-anodized version, not this stainless pan.

Strengths

  • 3-ply stainless body paired with a PFAS-free ceramic nonstick coating.
  • Oven safe to 600 °F, higher than most nonstick pans.
  • Works on induction and every other cooktop.
  • The V-shaped handle cutout is designed to slow heat transfer.
  • A mirrored finish that looks good enough to bring to the table.
  • Chip-resistant rims and a riveted handle are built for daily use.

Weaknesses

  • No independent instrumented test of this exact tri-ply stainless model exists.
  • All the positive test coverage is for the hard-anodized Valencia Pro line, not this pan.
  • GreenPan’s durability figures come from its own lab, not an independent tester.
  • A retailer lists the material as hard-anodized aluminum, contradicting GreenPan’s 3-ply stainless description.
  • GreenPan’s own pages call the coating both Thermolon 9G and Infinite8.
  • Brand-level owner reports describe coating wear within months, though not on this model.

What is and is not tested

This exact pan has not been independently tested. Consumer Reports rated the hard-anodized Valencia Pro line excellent for cooking evenness, food release and nonstick durability after 2,000 steel-wool strokes, with a 2-year warranty on that line. America’s Test Kitchen singled out the hard-anodized 8 in. and 12 in. frypans in its ceramic nonstick testing, and Food Network and Good Housekeeping also rated the hard-anodized line. None of those results have been confirmed for the tri-ply stainless body, so treat them as brand-level evidence rather than proof for this model.

The coating and its claims

GreenPan’s in-house lab says Thermolon 9G withstands 6x more abrasion cycles than the original Thermolon before an egg sticks, and holds its nonstick properties for at least 250 dishwasher cycles, about 2x the original, tested to EN12875-1. That is manufacturer-funded testing and should be read as a claim, not independent validation. The naming is muddled too: the Valencia Pro Stainless Steel collection page says “Infinite8” in places while the product page for this pan says Thermolon 9G, likely the same coating under two marketing names.

Owners and durability

Owner discussion of the Valencia Pro line is mostly about the hard-anodized version. In an r/cookware thread, an owner of the three-piece set reported persistent sticking, worst on the 12 in. pan, with replies noting nonstick should not be heated above medium-low. These are brand-level signals, not a failure rate for the tri-ply stainless 8 in. A Macy’s comment on the stainless line, referring to the 12 in. version, calls it well made and heavy with a comfortable handle and a coating that works as it should.

What it costs

GreenPan’s US store lists the 8 in. pan at $69.99 against a $99.99 suggested price (GreenPan, 2026), and Everything Kitchens lists it at $69.99. GreenPan’s alternate storefront lists $28.00 against a $79.99 original, a different promotional context worth noting only as a data point. The pan has no lid and no consumables beyond cooking oil, so the running cost is replacing it if the coating wears out and the warranty does not cover it.

Is it worth it?

At $69.99 this is a mid-range small stainless nonstick pan, and the core risk is that no independent test has validated this exact model. If you mainly want proven ceramic nonstick performance, the hard-anodized Valencia Pro line carries the Consumer Reports and America’s Test Kitchen coverage at a similar price. Buy the tri-ply stainless version if the stainless body and the 600 °F oven rating are what you need, and treat anything below $45 as a strong deal.

Which model this is

This page covers the GreenPan Valencia Pro Stainless Steel 8" Frypan, SKU CC008341-001, the same pan sold on the US Amazon listing. It is not the hard-anodized ceramic Valencia Pro line, which has different testing behind it. The ASIN is B0D3J4Y7K2.
