Summary
A small ultrasonic cool-mist humidifier for a bedroom or plant corner, with app, voice and RGB night-light control, plus an aroma function. Check whether you can buy the compatible humidity sensor it needs for automatic setpoint control; the H7140 has no built-in humidistat.
Strengths
- Remote mist control, routines and night-light control in Govee Home for a small room.
- Top-fill design avoids turning the tank upside down to refill.
- Compact size suits a bedroom or plant corner at 7.63 × 6.1 × 11.7 in.
- An external Govee sensor can monitor humidity away from the mist plume.
- Rated 19 W is low next to many heated humidifiers.
- A 3 L tank lasts well past a night at low output.
Weaknesses
- No built-in humidistat; automatic setpoint control needs a separate Govee thermo-hygrometer.
- Cleaning the tank and base every 2–3 days, with water changed at least every two days.
- Ultrasonic mist can release minerals and microorganisms from tap water; the EPA recommends distilled water.
- 3 L runs out fast at high output; 220 mL/h works out to roughly 13.6 hours at constant maximum.
- No 5 GHz Wi-Fi onboarding; pairing also needs Bluetooth and app permissions.

Running costs and water
Electrical energy is small next to bottled water. At a constant 19 W, eight hours a day would use about 55.5 kWh a year, and running 24 hours a day about 166.4 kWh. At an assumed $0.20/kWh that is roughly $11.10 or $33.29 a year. Purchased distilled water is the bigger line item: Target listed Good & Gather distilled water at $1.39 a gallon in October 2026, which works out to about $134 a year at 1 L a day or about $402 a year at 3 L a day. A full 3 L tank is about $1.10. Together the electricity and 1 L a day scenario comes to roughly $145 a year before filters and cleaning.
Maintenance, parts and cleaning
Expect to wipe the tank and base every 2–3 days and change the water at least every two days; the parts are not dishwasher safe and the power base cannot be submerged. The manual gives a 355 mL (1.5-cup) vinegar soak for 15–20 minutes for descaling and requires a full rinse afterwards. A removable water filter needs replacement about every two months, roughly six a year; a verified H7140 filter SKU and price were not found, so contact Govee support before budgeting. A third-party Onerbl 24V replacement adapter was listed at $8.79 plus $5.99 shipping on Walmart, but it is not a verified OEM part; the manual requires the original adapter. Warranty is 12 months.
Setup and Auto Mode
Pair to a 2.4 GHz network with Bluetooth enabled; captive-portal networks can block setup, and a VPN during pairing can complicate connectivity. Auto Mode appears when the humidifier is connected to a compatible Govee thermo-hygrometer, and the app then offers a target humidity and an Auto Stop option. A sensor shown in an optional store bundle is not included with the standard unit; the maker’s H5075 Bluetooth hygrometer showed a single-unit price of $11.56 on one variant, putting the pair at about $46.55 before tax.
Is it worth it?
At $30 or less the H7140 is a cheap smart trial for a small room, and $31–35 is reasonable if Govee app integration is the draw; $36–40 is ordinary manufacturer pricing and less convincing if you must also buy the sensor. Govee’s own US page listed it at $39.99 in October 2026, with a separate Govee storefront showing $34.99 during a promotion. At $45–55 all-in including the sensor, compare the Dreo Smart Humidifier 311S 4L at $49.99–$54.99, which claims built-in humidity control, or the Levoit Dual 150 at $43.99 (some variants about $37.49) if you can do without app control. The Levoit Classic 300S is near $71.99 and was the only model here with independent testing, but that result does not transfer to the H7140.
Which model this is
This page covers the GoveeLife Smart Humidifier Lite H7140, the 3 L top-fill ultrasonic model. The maker sells it under several names, including Smart Humidifier Lite and Smart 3L Humidifier. Do not confuse it with the H7141, H7142, H7143 or H7147, which are different models. The Amazon listing is ASIN B0BT93MJ4G.
