Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A retractable-contact bed probe for compatible Geeetech A-series printers that turns bed-height sampling into a firmware mesh, with a manufacturer-stated ±0.005 mm deviation that no independent test has verified. Check your exact board, connector and firmware before ordering: the included 3+2 harness does not mate with every printer, and a Mizar M owner reported needing a different assembly.

Strengths

  • Contact sensing works on glass and other non-metal beds, unlike inductive probes.
  • Automatic mesh probing is supported by Marlin and Klipper workflows once configured.
  • Geeetech provides a wiki, wiring table and linked firmware and tutorial resources for supported A-series printers.
  • Bundled bracket, screws, nuts and 18 cm plus 100 cm harnesses reduce separate parts for compatible mounts.
  • Built-in diagnostic feedback: startup pin cycling and a flashing LED alert help distinguish power, pin motion and wiring problems.

Weaknesses

  • The included 3+2 harness does not mate with every printer; a Mizar M owner reported a flat-ribbon mismatch and a separate assembly 700-001-1502.
  • No independent repeatability test or failure-rate data for SKU 700-001-1787 has been published, so the ±0.005 mm claim stays a manufacturer figure.
  • Erratic repeatability and unintended probe deployment are documented only in older, unidentified 3D Touch reports, not verified for the Pro.
  • Firmware flashing and Z-offset calibration can take longer than installing the sensor, and a mesh can be silently ignored after reboot or homing.
  • Official US-shipped cost of $49.89 exceeds the $34.99 genuine ANTCLABS BLTouch v3.1 listing before comparing brackets and cables.
  • Support experiences vary: one 2024 customer reported an unanswered email and a 2023 buyer described a sales-versus-support handoff loop.

Which model this is

This page covers the Geeetech 3D Touch V3.2 Pro, manufacturer SKU 700-001-1787, a retractable-contact bed-height probe. It is not the genuine ANTCLABS BLTouch and not Geeetech’s ordinary 3D Touch V3.2 (SKU 700-001-1786, $19.90 on the same store). Mizar M owners should confirm the special assembly 700-001-1502 and connector geometry in writing before ordering, since the standard 3+2 harness has mismatched in owner reports.

Compatibility and wiring

Geeetech staff explicitly confirm the Pro for A10M, A20M, A20T and A10T on the exact product page, and the generic wiki names the A10/A20/A30 family while excluding its I3 family in that guidance. An FLSUN buyer was told to verify pins, bracket and firmware with the printer maker. The harness is five conductors in a 3+2 scheme: brown ground, red +5 V, orange control/servo, black ground, white Z-min. Motherboard connector positions can differ, so check pin functions rather than wire color or connector fit alone. Keep the printer off while changing connections and never wire the probe to a 12 V or 24 V accessory or fan terminal; the sensor is regulated at DC 5 V with a published 15–300 mA range. The included 18 cm and 100 cm cables, bracket, four M3 screws and two M3 nuts are convenience items, not proof that the harness reaches or mates with every carriage.

Accuracy and what it does not fix

The V3.2 Pro page claims a ±0.005 mm “accuracy deviation,” while the older general wiki describes about 0.005 mm standard deviation of repeatability. These are different metrics, and neither is an independent measured accuracy guarantee for this exact Pro model on an assembled printer. A physical plunger can probe glass, metal and wood, but it cannot compensate for gross mechanical bed tramming, Z-offset error, a badly warped bed, an unstable gantry, or a printer without supporting firmware, motherboard pins and a mount. Marlin recommends rough manual bed tramming before the automatic mesh, and the probe must be mounted so its retracted tip sits about 2 mm above the nozzle with the deployed pin reaching the bed first. Use Marlin M48 or Klipper PROBE_ACCURACY to measure an installed unit, and remember the probe is only one contributor to first-layer accuracy alongside Z mechanics, nozzle condition and the mesh algorithm.

Installation and firmware

Initial mount, signal wiring, firmware configuration and Z-offset calibration can take longer than fitting the sensor itself. Marlin can use 3D Touch when the board exposes the correct probe and servo pins and firmware is configured for it, using G28 to home, G29 to probe the mesh, M500 to save to EEPROM and M420 S1 to reactivate a stored mesh where configuration disables it after homing. Klipper supports BLTouch-style configurations but warns that clone probes may require careful diagnostics and may not implement all functions such as touch_mode and sensor-state reporting. Do not flash firmware from another printer merely because the sensor looks similar. Geeetech’s wiki gives three diagnostic branches when the probe misbehaves: a dark LED points to power or connector reversal or disconnection, a flashing red LED points to probe-pin or fastener or solenoid trouble, and a missing startup self-cycle points to wiring. Test probe motion with the carriage raised well clear of the bed, and use Klipper’s pin_down, pin_up, touch_mode and QUERY_PROBE routines. A 2023 Ender 3 V2 owner reported the sensor cycling while Z no longer homed, but the root cause was not demonstrated and that case does not prove a V3.2 Pro failure.

Observed US offers in October 2026, before tax: Geeetech lists the V3.2 Pro at $35.99 plus $13.90 US-selected shipping, an estimated $49.89 subtotal, with a US warehouse marked in stock and ship in 24 hours. The same seller selector lists the ordinary V3.2 at $19.90. eBay had a $20.99 free-shipping Geeetech-branded listing out of stock and a $16.14 listing ended May 11, 2026; a $15.33 listing from another seller did not guarantee authorized stock, warranty or shipping. Walmart showed a third-party “BUTTERFLY- Geeetech V3.2 Pro” at $49.07 with free shipping, not verified as genuine SKU 700-001-1787. Genuine ANTCLABS BLTouch v3.1 was $34.99 at Filastruder US in stock, with West3D at $33.99 but sold out, and Creality CR Touch was $31.20 on the official US store for the checked kit. At $20 or less delivered, a working unit is reasonable for a confirmed compatible setup, though no unconditional in-stock authorized offer at that price was established. From $21 to $30 delivered is acceptable for a confirmed like-for-like replacement. From $31 to $40 delivered, compare the genuine ANTCLABS BLTouch v3.1 at $34.99. Above $40 delivered, and especially at $49.89, standalone value is weak for new installations versus genuine BLTouch or an officially compatible CR Touch, though an exact required Geeetech replacement can still justify it after verifying any special harness. There is no liquid, filament or scheduled consumable; maintenance is checking probe motion, cabling and mount and offset after printer work. Replacing the complete sensor at the displayed official subtotal would cost $49.89 before tax, which is a contingency rather than a normal annual budget, and no credible hours or activations replacement interval exists. The 18 cm and 100 cm cables are included one each, with no separately purchasable exact replacement cable or US standalone price verified. The included four M3 screws, two M3 nuts and one metal holder are mechanical parts; a Geeetech-specific spare mount SKU was not verified, and a 2023 Mizar M buyer reported the included bracket did not fit that printer. The special Mizar M assembly 700-001-1502 was named in an owner report after Geeetech support correspondence but is not proven in stock or separately priced. No manufacturer-confirmed V3.2 Pro replacement push pin, controller PCB, solenoid or Mizar-specific harness with a US price was found. Electricity at the component level is 0.075–1.5 W from the published 15–300 mA at 5 V, which are instantaneous rating endpoints rather than a measured continuous profile; hypothetically 0.075 W for 2,000 hours is 0.15 kWh, or $0.03 at an assumed $0.20 per kWh, before actuation and motherboard conversion losses. Mandatory annual consumables or software subscription cost is $0. An incorrectly configured probe can cause failed first layers or a nozzle strike, but no verified per-year incidence or average repair cost from exact V3.2 Pro owners exists.

Is it worth it?

For an owner of a confirmed compatible Geeetech A-series printer needing a like-for-like replacement, the Pro is a reasonable buy when wiring and firmware are already known and the harness fits. For a fresh retrofit, the genuine ANTCLABS BLTouch v3.1 at $34.99 or a Creality CR Touch at $31.20 on supported machines deserve comparison, especially when the Geeetech unit ships at $49.89. Buyers expecting proven independent ±0.005 mm real-printer accuracy, plug-and-play installation or dependable long-term operation should look elsewhere, since no independent test or failure-rate data for SKU 700-001-1787 has been published and support experiences are mixed.
