Summary

A dual-motor bamboo sit-stand desk sold through the Herman Miller store, aimed at buyers who want a large natural-bamboo top and the long support history of the Fully line. Check the size before you buy: the 78" x 30" top is no longer a current factory configuration, so this listing is residual or third-party stock.

Strengths

  • Four programmable presets on the OLED handset make sit-stand switching quick.
  • The bamboo top carries a wear-resistant UV-cured coating on a powder-coated steel frame.
  • The frame accepts custom tops; one owner runs an 82" Jarvis frame with a built desktop.
  • Owners report multi-year durability, with one calling a four-year-old desk outstanding.

Weaknesses

  • Independent WobbleMeter testing found stability only fair to bad at full standing height.
  • Measured noise reaches 56–57 dB with the top fitted and 62 dB under a 150 lb load.
  • The bamboo top is ¾ in thick, and owners say it is too thin and flexes under load.
  • The 78" x 30" size is absent from the current manufacturer catalog.
  • Opening the lifting columns, control box or handset voids the warranty.
  • The frame warranty is 7 years, down from the 15 years the line once carried.

Noise

Manufacturer copy claims under 50 dB, and the frame manual states the same figure without a top. BTOD measured 56–57 dB with the top fitted and 62 dB under a 150 lb load. Treat the marketing number as an unloaded or frame-only figure rather than what you will hear at your desk.

Stability at standing height

BTOD’s WobbleMeter test scores the Jarvis at 11 for wobble and 19 for rocking at 30" — excellent — then 25 and 31 at 42" and 38 and 48 at 46". On BTOD’s own scale that is fair-to-bad once the desk is fully raised, and BTOD calls the desk mid-pack for stability in the sub-$600 class. Two caveats: the test used a 1.125" commercial top instead of the ¾" stock bamboo, and the tested frame predates a later wedge revision. Owners back the pattern, with one long-term owner saying the thin bamboo top makes the desk susceptible to wobble.

Herman Miller lists the Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk at $1,525 for the configuration shown, with the family from $1,245 to $1,725 depending on size and shape. Wirecutter previously recommended the line and has dropped it, citing a price rise, a warranty cut from 15 years to 7 years, the low-range frame dropped from the laminate model, and standard bamboo sizes discontinued. For comparison, Wirecutter’s January 2026 table lists the Uplift V3 at $890 with a 60-inch bamboo top and the Branch Duo at $549.

Warranty terms are 7 years on frame components, mechanical parts, motors and electrical components, 5 years on tops, and 1 year on power grommets and surge protectors. Repairs are limited by design: the manual prohibits opening the columns, control box or handset, so those parts have to come from the manufacturer. The Jarvis caster accessory is $10, and a cable management tray is a separate purchase.

Which model this is

This is the Fully Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk, Rectangle, in the 78" x 30" natural bamboo size. Fully, LLC was acquired by Herman Miller, and the Jarvis line is now sold through the Herman Miller store; the assembly instructions still read “Jarvis is a registered trademark of Fully, LLC”. The current manufacturer listing is item 100401256. The listing for this configuration is ASIN B0981KY9TW. Don’t confuse it with the Jarvis Laminate Standing Desk, which uses a different top material and a different size list.
