Summary
A budget three-piece bamboo cutting board set in 15 x 10, 12 x 8 and 9 x 6 inch sizes, with deep juice grooves and built-in side handles. Check your knives before you buy: bamboo is harder on edges than wood, and these boards need hand washing and monthly oiling.
Strengths
- Three useful sizes, from a 9 x 6 in cheese board to a 15 x 10 in prep board.
- The resin-coated surface wiped clean of lime and beet stains in hands-on testing.
- Deep juice grooves handled everything except the juiciest watermelon.
- Built-in side handles make moving a board from prep to stove easy.
- The 9 x 6 in board is a ready-made cheese and crackers server.
- Food & Wine featured the set as a microplastic-free alternative to plastic in March 2026.
Weaknesses
- Bamboo is hard on knife edges: Wirecutter, which has tested 40+ boards since 2015, does not recommend bamboo at all.
- Hand wash only. Soaking or the dishwasher warps and cracks boards, per category-wide owner reports.
- No warranty documentation exists for this exact set.
- The boards feel thinner than premium sets, and heavy cleaver work will show it.
- The resin coat wears down with heavy use and frequent washing, then demands more diligent oiling.
- Long-term durability is the open question; the only hands-on reviewer of this set flags it.

Knives and the bamboo question
The material caution is consistent across independent outlets. Wirecutter’s testing (40+ boards since 2015) finds bamboo very hard on knife edges because it is high in silica, and its recommendations are plastic and hard wood. Tom’s Guide’s tested guide picks plastic and maple over bamboo. The Consumer’s Guide says bamboo splits the difference between plastic and wood but leans hard on edges. If edge life matters more than price, wood or plastic boards with stronger independent testing are the safer buy.
Care and running costs
Hand wash, never soak or dishwasher, dry upright or on a rack, and oil about monthly with food-grade mineral oil. Mineral oil is the only recurring cost. Once the resin coat wears, the wood underneath needs more diligent oiling. In r/Cuttingboards threads and on Seasoned Advice, the classic bamboo and wood failure modes are warping and cracking after moisture exposure or dishwasher cycles, and Reddit’s bamboo threads raise glue chemistry, whether the adhesive is formaldehyde-free. Freshware does not disclose the adhesive or a warranty for this set; the satisfaction guarantee on the brand site belongs to the older sibling set.
Is it worth it?
Food & Wine featured the set in March 2026 at about $14, under $5 apiece, and a June 2026 deal roundup listed it at $11 against a $20 reference. Walmart shows a Freshware 3-piece reversible bamboo set at $13.99, and Freshware’s own collection page lists a bamboo set at $13.99, marked down from $19.20, though the brand site sells the older, thinner set, so check sizes before ordering. At $12 or less this is a strong budget buy with bamboo’s tradeoffs accepted up front; from $13 to $16 it is fair value. Above $16, reversible bamboo sets with a 5-year warranty exist at about $19.99 (The Consumer’s Guide), and wood or plastic boards with stronger testing cost about the same.
Which model this is
This page covers the Freshware 3-piece bamboo set sold as ASIN B0CTS1XLH3, with 15 x 10, 12 x 8 and 9 x 6 inch boards, reversible faces, deep juice grooves and built-in side handles.
Freshware’s own website does not sell this set. It carries the older BC-200PK, a thinner three-piece line (13 x 9.5, 11 x 8.5 and 8 x 6 in at 3/8 in thick) with hanging-hole grips instead of side handles. Seller listings and roundups carry the specs for the exact model; the 0.6-inch thickness and 2 lb weight are unconfirmed by the brand.
