Flavia Creation 600: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-18

Summary

The Flavia Creation 600’s documented problems are mechanical: cup-stand sensor jams (ERROR 341), pack door and feed timeouts (ERROR 360, 321, 328) and “Freshpack not recognised” barcode misreads, usually caused by dirt, condensation or a full used-pack bin [2][11]. The packs are the real running cost: roughly $3,763–$5,276 a year at 20 drinks a workday (5,000 packs), before tax, delivery, milk and cups [13][17]. It is a good buy under $1,600 when a distributor handles service, and hard to justify above $2,000 given the missing independent tests, reviews and published warranty terms [1][7][16].

Yearly running cost

Freshpacks dominate. The scenario math, not observed usage: 20 drinks a workday across 250 workdays is 5,000 packs a year, roughly $3,763–$5,276 before tax, delivery, milk and cups; at 40 drinks a day it doubles to about 10,000 packs and $7,525–$10,553 (October 2026 pack prices) [13][17][20]. These are consumption scenarios, not observed office usage, and exclude two-pack specialty drinks.

Energy is minor next to packs but not zero. At the 1550 W rating, one minute of heating per drink at 5,000 drinks a year implies about 129.2 kWh, roughly $25.84 at $0.20 per kWh — an illustration, not an all-in bill, since standby heat, pumps and the chill module sit outside it [4].

The machine itself: $1,999.90 spread over an assumed five-year horizon is about $399.98 a year — a bookkeeping horizon, not a documented service life or warranty term [1].

When it is a good buy

New machine prices, October 2026: $1,999.90 direct from Flavia’s own store (MyFlavia) for SKU 18000565; $2,057.07 at SIM Supply; $2,309.28 at OfficeSupplySource; $3,677.12 at Office Basics, marked nonreturnable [1][24][25][26]. A used C600 was listed at $949 by a private seller on UsedCoffeeGear (Arlington, Virginia) about a year before the October 2026 check, with availability, complete parts and freight unverified [27].

Thresholds: under $1,600 new it would be compelling for an office already committed to Freshpacks and a service contract; $1,600–$2,000 is reasonable when the distributor handles setup and accessories; above $2,000, compare the Creation 300 or negotiate a distributor-managed agreement rather than a no-service online purchase; above $2,300 with no installation or warranty details it looks weak against Flavia’s own direct price [1].

Plan the water before the machine arrives: cold drinks need the Chill Refresh module, about $300 (Flavia, 2026), professionally installed on a dedicated plumbed water line, and it cannot be paired with the Refill module; without plumbing, the Refill module is about $250 (Flavia accessories, 2026, marked down from a $325 list) and gives a 219.7 oz jug tank, roughly 31 seven-ounce cups [18][19][6].
