Summary

A hardwired dual-camera doorbell that runs off existing doorbell wiring with no battery and no monthly fee, built to give a clear look at the doorstep where packages land. Check your transformer before you buy: eufy asks for 16–24 VAC at 30 VA or more, and the 8 V and 16 V 10 VA transformers in many older homes are usually too weak.

Strengths

  • Two cameras give a normal view of visitors plus a downward view of the doorstep where packages land.
  • Runs continuously on doorbell wiring, so there is no battery to recharge and no monthly fee for storage or playback.
  • Keeps about 90 days of motion events in 8 GB of built-in storage, oldest overwritten first.
  • The closest independent test of the design praised sharp 2K video, working package detection and few false alerts.
  • Works standalone through the app, without a HomeBase hub.

Weaknesses

  • eufy warns that common 8 V and 16 V 10 VA transformers are usually too weak; the fix is a 24 V 40 VA transformer.
  • Footage lives on the doorbell, so a stolen or destroyed unit loses its recordings unless a separately sold HomeBase keeps a copy.
  • Consumer Reports rates data privacy for this model mediocre and measured alert response at about 7.5 seconds, which it calls slow.
  • Apple HomeKit is not supported; only Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are.
  • Owners on eufy’s forum report pairing trouble, a bottom camera that does not trigger motion, and one unit running hot.

Which model this is

This page covers the hardwired eufy Video Doorbell (Wired) S330, US part e8203111, also seen in eufy forum threads as T8203 and E8203. The listing maps to ASIN B0DQ7D2SMB.

Do not confuse it with the battery-powered Video Doorbell S330 / Dual (e8213381), the solar eufyCam S330 (T8160) or the Video Smart Lock S330 (e85301y1), and eufy itself warns against mixing up the wired doorbell with the solar camera. PCMag’s lab review is of the battery sibling, not this wired unit, and that sibling ships a HomeBase that the wired model does not include.

Installation and the transformer trap

The doorbell runs only on existing 16–24 VAC wiring, and eufy asks for 30 VA or more. The 8 V and 16 V 10 VA transformers common in older homes are the usual reason a wired doorbell drops offline or the chime misbehaves; the standard fix is a 24 V 40 VA transformer. Check yours before ordering, because without enough power this is not a plug-and-play swap. eufy suggests mounting about 4 ft (1.2 m) up with a clear line to where deliveries land. Forum owners also ask for a larger mounting wedge and a second chime, so plan the angle and the chime spot before you drill.

Package camera, alerts and local storage

The second, low-angle camera is the reason to pick this over a single-camera doorbell: it watches the spot where parcels are set down. The best independent test of the design, PCMag’s review of the battery sibling, found the package camera crisp, delivery alerts firing when someone approached or picked up a package, and very few false alerts. Consumer Reports’ entry for the exact wired S330 is more reserved, calling daytime video fairly sharp, nighttime video very good, and alert response slow at about 7.5 seconds on average.

Recordings stay on the doorbell, in 8 GB of built-in storage, and the model saves motion events rather than 24/7, with no subscription. That is the trade-off: no recurring fee, but the footage sits on the device. Pair a HomeBase and it can hold a second copy; without one, a stolen doorbell takes its clips with it. How much the doorbell really stores is disputed — eufy says 8 GB while Consumer Reports lists 16 GB — so treat 8 GB as the manufacturer figure.

Owner reports and reliability

Owner discussion of the exact wired S330 is limited to eufy’s own forum and consists of individual posts, not a failure rate. One owner found motion detection worked only on the top camera, another reported repeated pairing failures on the T8203/S330, and a third described the unit running very hot from the back, with a replacement behaving the same way; that report’s model attribution is not certain. No defect rate has been published, so treat these as known annoyances rather than a pattern.

Is it worth it?

eufy sells the wired S330 direct for $179.99, and Consumer Reports shows the exact model from $119.99 at retailers. In eufy’s own lineup it sits above the battery E340 at $149.99 and below the 3K wired S4 at $299.99. For a home that already has 16–24 VAC wiring at 30 VA or more, the package camera and free local storage are a fair deal at that range. A weak transformer means extra spend to fix it, and keeping footage through a theft means adding a HomeBase. If you want continuous 24/7 recording, this model saves motion events only.
