Summary
A dual-camera battery video doorbell: a 2K front camera plus a downward 1080p camera that watches the doorstep for packages, with 8 GB of on-device storage and no subscription. Check the battery before you buy, because the quoted six months is a ceiling rather than a plan: owners report six to eight weeks, sometimes 10–14 days on a busy entrance.
Strengths
- Two cameras in one body: 2K above the door and 1080p looking down at the step for packages.
- 8 GB of on-device storage; recording and detection need no subscription.
- The battery pulls out, so you can swap it instead of taking the doorbell off the door.
- Runs standalone, without a HomeBase.
- Owners who came from Ring name motion detection and video quality, plus having nothing locked behind a monthly fee.
Weaknesses
- Real battery life falls short of the quoted six months: owner reports cluster at six to eight weeks, and 10–14 days where traffic is heavy.
- Live view lags by up to 20 seconds, and the delay grows with distance from the router.
- Only the front camera is 2K; the downward camera is 1080p.
- No HomeKit without a HomeBase, no IFTTT and no RTSP.
- Storage cannot be expanded inside the doorbell itself.
- One owner reports six months of poor experience and email-only customer support.

Battery life and charging
The marketing number is up to six months, and eufy’s own support page puts battery doorbells at 4–6 months under normal use. Real-world reports are shorter. A reviewer who used the doorbell for five months went through three charges, about seven weeks per charge. Owner threads put six to eight weeks as the norm, and as little as 10–14 days where the door sees constant traffic or the motion sensitivity sits high. No controlled battery-life test has been published, so treat six months as the ceiling rather than the plan.
eufy gives you five motion-sensitivity levels and four power-manager modes: Optimal Battery Life, Balance Surveillance, Optimal Surveillance and Customize Recording. The lower settings are what stretch a charge. Charging is USB-C and takes about 3.5–6 hours on a 5 V/2 A adapter. If you have doorbell wiring, the unit trickle-charges, but the battery has to stay in the doorbell and charging stops near 96%. A spare rechargeable battery pack costs about $39, and a solar panel is not a plug-and-play upgrade, so check that eufy lists the panel as compatible before you buy one.
Video, night vision and live view
The front camera records at 2K (2048 × 1536) and the downward one at 1600 × 1200, so a package on the step is in frame without a second camera, and the 160° view covers a wide porch. Reviewers like the sharp image, the HDR and the dual LED lighting. The catch is night vision: TechGearLab’s instrumented comparison found infrared clearer than color, so the color mode is the softer of the two in the dark.
Independent testing is thin. Night vision is rated to 16 ft (5 m), with a little visibility beyond that in testing.
Storage, subscription and smart-home fit
There is no memory-card slot in the doorbell itself, so extra space means a HomeBase 2 or HomeBase 3, which takes the total up to 16 TB. Digital Camera World notes that a memory card slot lives in the chime instead. Owners also report that a HomeBase 3 gives faster access to events.
Recording and detection need no subscription at all, and that is the reason some owners name when they compare it with Ring. The unit runs standalone without a HomeBase. It works with an existing chime, HomeBase S280/S380, Minibase Chime (T8023), Alexa and Google Assistant, but not the original Wi-Fi Chime (T8020) or Chime (T8740/T8742). HomeKit support only exists through a HomeBase, and there is no IFTTT or RTSP support.
Is it worth it?
eufy.com lists the standalone battery unit at $169.99, the eufy blog has featured it at $119.98, and Tom’s Guide deal coverage put it at $119.99 from eufy, $99.99 at Walmart and $139.99 at Target. At $100 or less you get a dual-camera 2K doorbell with color night vision, an IP65 rating, free local storage and no subscription, which is strong value. Up to $130 it stays good, especially if package detection and a removable battery are what you are buying. Between $130 and $170 it is fair value, and above $170 the dual camera and package detection have to be the reason.
Plan for the long run too. CCTV Info projects about 20% battery capacity loss by year two and sensor drift by year three, and those are projections rather than measurements, so treat the battery pack as a consumable you will replace at some point.
Which model this is
This page covers the eufy Video Doorbell E340 in the Kit with Battery bundle, ASIN B0DDTSXJDV. The doorbell itself is SKU T8214, and the standalone battery-powered version is T8214111. Bundles also exist with a rechargeable battery pack, with Chime 2 and with HomeBase S380, and the accessories differ between them, so check what the box actually contains. Do not confuse it with the eufy Floodlight Camera E340 (T8425) or the eufyCam S330/S340, which are separate products.
