eufyCam C37: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-11
Summary
The C37’s weak points are power and storage: the solar panel needs enough daily sunlight to keep the battery charged, and with no built-in storage a microSD card is required for any recording at all. There is no mandatory monthly fee; the only costs of keeping it running are a one-time microSD card (price not published) and an optional eufy Plus membership at $15 a month or $135 a year. At the $69.99 sale price on eufy.com it is a good buy; at $99.99 MSRP the value weakens.
Common problems and fixes
- Solar panel cannot always keep the battery charged — eufy’s FAQ says the battery may still decrease in low-sunlight or high-temperature conditions, and less than 2 hours of daily sunlight may not support continuous power; position the detachable panel separately from the camera for optimal sun exposure and clean it periodically. [1][2]
- No built-in storage — without a microSD card the camera cannot record at all, which is unusual even among budget cameras; install a card up to 256 GB during setup. [1][2]
- No 24/7 continuous recording — the camera is event-triggered only, even when connected to HomeBase Mini; owners who need continuous coverage should look elsewhere. [1][2]
- Spotlight color night vision is visible and may disturb people — unlike the light-free PureColor Vision on the C35 and C31, the C37 lights a visible spotlight for color night vision; use Infrared mode for darker night vision without the light. [1][2]
- No Apple HomeKit and no HomeBase 2 support — it works with HomeBase 3 (V3.7.8.4+) and HomeBase Mini (V4.0.5.6+) only, so owners with a HomeBase 2 or a HomeKit setup need a different camera. [1]
- Rated battery life is conditional — the 45-day claim assumes 75 motion events per day, and heavier use, longer recordings and cold weather reduce it significantly. [1]
Parts and consumables
- 3W solar panel — included with the camera; detachable design so it can be positioned separately from the camera for optimal sun exposure. [1][2]
Yearly running cost
There are no mandatory recurring costs. Core features carry no monthly subscription, the solar panel is included, and the only consumable is the microSD card, a one-time purchase with no published price. The optional eufy Plus membership costs $15 a month or $135 a year and adds an extended warranty and perks, but it is not required. A typical owner spends $0 a year without eufy Plus, or $135 a year with it.
When it is a good buy
- eufy.com listed the C37 at $99.99 MSRP, frequently on sale at $69.99 (Fall 2026); eufy Plus members save an additional $3.49. [1][2]
- At the $69.99 sale price, 2K resolution, 360-degree pan/tilt, AI tracking, spotlight color night vision and the included solar panel make it a strong buy for subscription-free outdoor coverage. [1][2]
- At $99.99 MSRP the value weakens, as competitors offer built-in storage, higher weatherproof ratings or HomeKit support at similar prices. [2]
- Better choice when you want 4K: the eufyCam C37 4K Edition at $129.99. [1][2]
- Better choice when you want light-free color night vision: the eufyCam C35 (magnetic mount, IP67, PureColor Vision). [1][2]
