Summary

A headrest-free high-back all-mesh chair with synchro-tilt, infinite lock, sliding seat, 4D arms and an adjustable-tension lumbar, rated 275 lb with a lifetime component warranty (5 years on mesh). Check your fit and lumbar tolerance before buying: the lumbar is firm and the armrests can drift when brushed.

Strengths

  • Lifetime component warranty with 5-year mesh coverage and long parts availability; owners report ordering parts for 8–10+ year old chairs.
  • Full adjustability: synchro-tilt with infinite lock, sliding seat, 4D arms, adjustable lumbar tension, six-position back height.
  • 12-zone slot-fixed T168 mesh; BTOD says it replaces stapled GEN1 mesh.
  • 60-day risk-free returns with free returns at BTOD.
  • Owners report back-pain relief, smooth casters and good seat depth for long legs.

Weaknesses

  • Armrests drift out of position when brushed — the most specific recurring complaint.
  • Lumbar is firm and aggressive; BTOD concedes it is “still a subject of debate.”
  • Mesh seat can feel firm for some users.
  • No instrumented professional test from RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, CNET or PCMag exists for this model.
  • Official dimensions are published under the headrest ME7ERG-GEN2 variant; ME8ERG-GEN2-specific overall height is not published.
  • Eurotech lists the headrest variant at $1,550; the no-headrest variant’s own official page was not found.

Adjustments and fit

The GEN2 package is synchro-tilt with infinite lock, tilt tension and tilt lock, sliding seat, pneumatic height adjustment, 4D arms, back height and back angle adjustment, waterfall seat edge, and a height-adjustable lumbar with a tension dial. Eurotech’s official dimensions (published under the headrest variant) are a 20.67 × 27.17–29.92 in back, 20.67 × 19.69 in seat, 17.83–21.38 in seat height, 26.18 × 26.57 × 44.69–51.18 in overall, 66 lb. BTOD rates it at 275 lb. BTOD staff answer fit questions for a 5 ft 3 in / 163 lb user and a 6 ft 4 in / 220 lb user, calling the latter “a solid option” for those stats. The 4D arms add height, width, depth (sliding pads) and pivot, but the recurring complaint is that they drift when brushed.

Comfort and mesh

The GEN2 uses Matrex T168 mesh with 12-zone support in a slot-fixed (not stapled) mounting, and BTOD documents the change from GEN1’s stapled mesh. The lumbar is firm and aggressive; some users like that it prevents slouching, others find it too much until the tension dial is adjusted. BTOD’s FAQ concedes the lumbar “is still a subject of debate” and advises users who find lumbar aggressive on other chairs to test the GEN2’s minimum tension setting. The mesh seat can feel firm for some users. GREENGUARD certification is cited by Eurotech.

Warranty and parts

US Eurotech warranty is limited lifetime on frame and components and 5 years on mesh, for the original purchaser. A UK seller (ergohuman.net, a different entity) advertises 10 years frame / 5 years mechanism and arms / 3 years casters, gas lift and mesh — those terms do not apply to US Eurotech purchases. BTOD offers 60-day risk-free returns with free returns. Long-term parts availability is repeatedly cited as a strength: owners report ordering replacement arms, casters and arm pads for chairs 8–10+ years old. Eurotech’s site offers downloadable assembly instructions and a product sheet.

Eurotech lists the headrest variant at $1,550. US retailer street prices for the GEN2 all-mesh line run $775–968: BTOD at $865.99; ergohumanus.com at $795 for ME7ERG-GEN2 and $775 for ME8ERGLO-GEN2; OfficeChairsUSA at $795 versus $1,550 MSRP, with a leather-seat mesh-back variant at $829 versus $1,647; OfficeChairsNow at $968 versus $1,550 MSRP; Ace Office Systems at $783 for ME8ERGLO-GEN2. Reddit research from 2025 cites Eurotech at $1,435, BTOD at $911.99. At under $800 the chair is a strong value given the lifetime component warranty and parts availability; at list price it is weak against the discounted street market.
