Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A 1080p portable smart projector built on 3LCD, with Android TV, Chromecast and Google Assistant supplied in the box, aimed at people who want a big screen without a permanent install. Check the brightness claim against the room you will actually use it in: 3,000 lumens is Epson’s own rated figure, and no independent test of this exact model has been published.

Strengths

  • Epson says the 3LCD panel shows 100% of the RGB color signal on every frame, so no rainbowing on 1080p sources.
  • The Android TV streaming module, its own remote and Chromecast are all in the box, so there is nothing extra to buy.
  • Google Assistant voice search, with Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max and YouTube listed as supported apps.
  • An integrated bass-reflex speaker plus Bluetooth wireless-speaker support for phone audio.
  • Advanced Scene Adaptive Color Correction adjusts color per scene without touching the settings menus.
  • A per-model Epson support hub with User’s Guide, warranty paper, RS-232 codes and categorized FAQs.

Weaknesses

  • No independent measurement of this exact model is available, so brightness, throw accuracy, fan noise and input lag are all manufacturer ratings.
  • The specifications block on Epson’s product page renders empty, so weight, dimensions, lamp hours, power draw and noise levels could not be confirmed from a live first-party page.
  • The streaming player is a separate Android TV box with its own remote and a Mini-USB power cable, so you live with two remotes and an extra box to place.
  • The sibling CO-W01 carries the same family name without the Android TV module, and listings mix the two, so box contents quoted for “EpiqVision Flex” are often wrong.
  • The warranty length sits inside the Quick Setup and Warranty PDF, so the term cannot be checked from the support page alone.
  • Brightness varies with usage conditions according to Epson, and the projector’s ceiling is 1080p, not 4K.

Brightness and color

Two different standards sit side by side in that claim, so read it as a rated number rather than a lab measurement of your wall.

The panel is 3LCD. Epson says it displays 100% of the RGB color signal for every frame, which is what keeps rainbowing off 1080p footage, the artifact single-chip portables show when the signal is weak or the image is dim. That is a manufacturer comparing manufacturer numbers, so treat it as marketing rather than a measured advantage.

Streaming and what is in the box

Epson ships an Android TV Streaming Media Player with its own remote, Google Assistant voice search and Chromecast. The apps Epson lists are Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max and YouTube, with live TV through YouTube TV, and casting works from phones, tablets and computers including Android and Apple devices.

The rest of the package is projector, power cable, projector remote control with batteries, Quick Start Guide, a Mini-USB cable to power the Android TV module and an HDMI cable. Video input is all-digital HDMI, with laptops, cable and satellite boxes, Blu-ray Disc players, game consoles and streaming sticks named as the usual sources. Audio is one integrated bass-reflex speaker, and the projector can push phone audio over Bluetooth.

Size, lamp and power

Figures published for this model include a throw ratio of 1.19 to 1.61, a 188 W UHE lamp rated for 6,000 hours in Normal mode and 12,000 in ECO, 284 W of power draw, 37 dB of fan noise and 29 dB in Quiet Mode, a weight of 5.7 lb and a body of 12.5 × 3.4 × 8.3 in. Epson’s specification sheet and user guide did not open for us, so verify any of those against the sheet before you count on the lamp life or the weight.

On picture size, Epson’s product page puts the maximum at up to 300 inch. Some listings quote a 34 to 391 inch range, but the wider figure could not be confirmed on a current Epson page, so plan around the 300-inch number.

Running costs and service plans

The running cost worth planning for is the optional service plan.

Streaming subscriptions are whatever you already pay for.

Is it worth it?

Epson US listed the projector at $449.99 against a $499.99 list price in October 2026, with a $50 savings banner on the product page. Street prices elsewhere were not verified, so treat that as one store’s number on one day rather than the going rate.

At that figure you get 3,000 rated lumens of 3LCD color, 1080p, Android TV with voice search, Chromecast, a bass-reflex speaker and images up to 300 inch. That bundle is the argument for the machine, because the Android TV module and Chromecast are what separate it from a plain 1080p portable, and they are already in the box.

The counterweight is the evidence. Judge the brightness claim as Epson’s rating, and get the spec sheet open before you rely on the lamp hours.

Which model this is

This is the CO-FH02, Epson model/SKU V11HA85020, listed by Epson in its home streaming-entertainment projector category. The sibling CO-W01 in the same EpiqVision Flex family is the “Streaming Ready” version without the Android TV media player, and it is linked from the CO-FH02 page, so match the model code rather than the family name when you compare listings.

The marketplace listing for this same CO-FH02 configuration is ASIN B0CQ3Y6GNS.
