Summary
A wall-powered, app-controlled edge-lit LED panel for streaming and video calls, with 2800 lumens of soft light and a steel clamp-and-pole mount. Check your desk space and your network first: Wi-Fi is only for setup, but the full clamp-and-pole stand is not a monitor mount.
Strengths
- Bright, soft, edge-lit light that stays comfortable through long sessions.
- Full app and Stream Deck control across Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.
- 2800 lumens is the highest output in Elgato’s current Key Light lineup.
- The steel Master Mount L clamps to a desk edge and telescopes to 125 cm.
- Onboard quick-access controls mean a phone or app is not needed day to day.
Weaknesses
- Wi-Fi dependence is the recurring owner complaint: setup needs Wi-Fi and the light stays on the network.
- No RGB, no battery and no USB-C power; it only runs from a wall adapter.
- The pole shakes normally at full extension; Elgato recommends about 90 cm rather than the 125 cm maximum.
- The clamp-and-pole stand needs a desk edge up to 6 cm thick and real clearance.
- The panel gets hot in prolonged use and its ventilation holes must stay uncovered.
- CRI is quoted as >92% in the tech specs and >94% in the comparison table, an unresolved conflict.

What it is and how it works
The Elgato Key Light is the full-sized, wall-powered panel in Elgato’s lineup: a 160-LED edge-lit panel rated at 2800 lumens and 2900–7000 K, controllable through the Control Center app on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, through Stream Deck, and through onboard quick-access controls. Elgato’s quick-start guide says Wi-Fi is needed only for initial pairing; after that the light runs on the local network from any Mac or Windows PC. There is no battery and no USB-C power, so the panel only works where you can plug it in. The manufacturer rates it at up to 45 W, which is a minor electricity cost and needs no subscription for Control Center.
Mount and desk footprint
The included Master Mount L is a steel telescoping pole that runs 55–125 cm, with a padded clamp that opens to 6 cm and a 2 kg maximum load. Elgato’s guide says it is normal for the pole to shake at full extension and recommends about 90 cm instead of the 125 cm maximum. The mount needs a real desk edge and clearance, so it is not a monitor-mount product.
Wi-Fi and controls
These are qualitative signals, not failure rates. The Control Center app works on Windows 10 64-bit or later, macOS 13 or later, iOS and Android, and Stream Deck integration and onboard quick-access controls are built in.
Parts, running costs and value
Ownership cost is small: the panel draws up to 45 W while on, Control Center needs no subscription, and Elgato sells spare parts such as Master Mount cable clips through its parts catalog. Warranty terms were not verified for the US, and no instrumented lab test of this exact model was found, so the performance figures remain manufacturer claims. Elgato’s US store lists it at $179.99; ZDNet reported $180 at B&H Photo-Video and $155 at Best Buy in August 2025.
Is it worth it?
At $155 or below, the Key Light is a defensible premium key light: 2800 lumens, app and Stream Deck control, and the steel clamp mount. At Elgato’s $179.99 MSRP the premium is justified only by maximum brightness and the full-size mount, since Elgato’s own Key Light Air MK.2 offers 2100 lumens and USB-C power around $130. Above about $180 the value weakens sharply unless app-controlled white light and the desk-clamp pole are specifically required.
Which model this is
This page covers the full-sized Elgato Key Light, SKU 10GAK9901, the wall-powered 2800-lumen panel that ships with the Master Mount L clamp pole. Don’t confuse it with Key Light Air MK.2, the 2100-lumen USB-C panel, or Key Light Neo, the small monitor-mounted panel; they are separate products. The Amazon listing for the full-size panel is ASIN B07L755X9G.
