Summary
A 15-inch edge-lit LED panel that clamps to the back of a desk, with onboard touch controls, USB-C power and Elgato app and Stream Deck control. This is the MK.2, the current model after the original Key Light Air, which Elgato now calls legacy hardware.
Strengths
- Clamps to the back of the desk, so it clears the work surface, and the panel detaches for standard 1/4-inch mounts or MagSafe holders.
- Onboard touch controls work with no app or network: brightness, color temperature and two saved presets.
- Full remote control through Elgato Control Center over USB or Wi-Fi, plus Stream Deck integration.
- The 15-inch edge-lit panel spreads soft light and takes up little desk space.
- USB-C power means it can run from a computer, a PD adapter or a battery bank.
- Wi-Fi covers both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands with WPA3.
Weaknesses
- Full 2100 lumens needs a 30 W or higher USB-C PD source, and the box has no power adapter.
- On a typical computer USB-C port Elgato says it delivers around 400 lumens, well below the headline figure.
- Elgato’s own brightness tables disagree on the mid- and low-power lumen values, so treat those tiers as approximate.
- There is no on-panel indicator showing whether the touch buttons are adjusting brightness or color temperature.
- No instrumented independent review of this exact model was found, so real output and color accuracy are unverified.
- The MagSafe ring works with compatible holders, but the mount shown is not included.

Power and brightness
The panel’s headline output is up to 2100 lumens, but that figure depends on the power source. Elgato rates full output at a USB-C Power Delivery source of 30 W or higher, and the box has no power adapter. On a typical computer USB-C port Elgato says the light delivers around 400 lumens, which is enough for many desks but far from the headline number.
Elgato sells its P30 power supply for $19.99, and it is free when added at checkout on elgato.com; other retailers do not carry it. A standard 30 W PD charger may work, but Elgato does not publish whether only the P30 reliably unlocks full output.
Elgato’s own brightness tables disagree. Its product page and its help center list different lumen figures for the same power levels, so treat the mid- and low-power tiers as approximate. The product-page numbers are the ones retailers and roundups repeat.
Controls and app
Onboard capacitive touch buttons handle brightness, color temperature and two saved presets, so the light works without an app or a network. The +/- buttons switch between brightness and color-temperature modes, and there is no on-panel indicator showing which mode is active.
Remote control runs through Elgato Control Center over USB or Wi-Fi, and the light supports Stream Deck. Wi-Fi covers 2.4 and 5 GHz with WPA3, WPA2 and WPA. Elgato lists Windows 11 (64-bit) or newer, macOS 13, iPadOS 12, iOS 13 or newer and Android 6.0 or newer.
Mounting and what’s in the box
The included clamp mounts the panel to the back of the desk, keeping the work surface clear, and the height adjusts from 60 to 88 cm (23 to 35 in). Most desks up to 6 cm (2.35 in) thick fit the clamp.
The panel carries three 1/4-inch threads and a MagSafe ring for compatible holders and battery banks. The MagSafe mount shown in Elgato’s photos is not in the box, and the Focus Grid accessory is sold separately for $29.99.
In the box you get the panel, a 250 cm (98 in) USB-C-to-C cable, the desk clamp mount and a Quick Start Guide. No power adapter.
Repairs, warranty and running costs
There are no consumables and no subscription; the only running cost is the power source, and a battery bank if you want to run it off a computer. B&H lists a limited two-year manufacturer warranty for the model.
No repairability or service-parts information for the MK.2 was found, and Elgato’s ecosystem pages cover mounts and arms rather than user-serviceable internals. No MK.2-specific failure rate or reliability data exists.
Is it worth it?
The value case is the clamp mount, the edge-lit softness and the Elgato ecosystem, not the lumen number. Elgato’s US store lists the with-mount version at $139.99 and the light-only version at $119.99; B&H Photo lists the with-mount model at $139.99, and a Newegg third-party seller lists it at $152.52.
If you want full brightness, add the P30 or a 30 W PD source to the total. If you only need raw light or want everything in one box, the separate power requirement and the lack of independent test data make it worth comparing against alternatives. It sits between Elgato’s small Key Light Neo and the larger Key Light; the larger Key Light MK.2 is a different product and is not covered here.
