Summary
A 1.75 mm PLA filament sold in 1 kg spools for light-diffusing prints such as lampshades, vases and décor. Check your printer and expectations before buying: it is translucent, not glass-clear, and the finish depends on wall thickness, infill and settings.
Strengths
- Budget-priced translucent PLA at $14.99 per 1 kg from the manufacturer store.
- Standard PLA settings (210–230 °C nozzle) work on most consumer FDM printers.
- Published mechanical data and a ±0.02 mm tolerance claim for a low-cost filament.
- Community profile gives a usable starting point: 210 °C, 60 °C bed, 100% cooling.
- Mixed-color bundles lower the per-kilogram cost when shipping is shared.
- No proprietary cartridges or subscription; it is ordinary 1.75 mm filament.
Weaknesses
- Translucent, not glass-clear; prints look cloudy or frosted at normal wall counts.
- One-spool orders face a $15 shipping fee, roughly doubling the delivered price.
- No manufacturer warranty on filament; the site’s “up to 1 year” banner does not apply.
- Sources conflict on empty spool weight (154 ± 10 g vs 112 g) and density.
- No independent instrumented test of this exact translucent variant exists.
- Heat deflection is only 58 °C, so parts are not for hot environments.

Print settings and tuning
Manufacturer guidance is 210–230 °C at the nozzle, with a community database listing 35–65 °C for the bed and a retailer listing 40–60 °C. A community preset for this filament uses 210 °C, a 60 °C bed and 100% part cooling, but it is labelled beta and imported, not a manufacturer profile. Transparency is controlled by wall count, infill, flow and cooling rather than by temperature alone; more walls and infill scatter more light. Owners report that a clean single-wall vase and a solid case look very different. Drying at 55 °C for 8 h before use is the community recommendation if the spool has been open. One owner reported lifting on a textured plate after switching from PETG, which points to plate cleaning and first-layer tuning rather than a defective spool.
Translucency and appearance
This filament is sold for soft light diffusion in lampshades, lanterns, light boxes and decorative parts, not for optically clear windows or lenses. The manufacturer states that transparency changes with wall thickness, infill and settings. An owner printing on an ELEGOO Neptune 4 Pro described the result as cloudy or frosted rather than clear, which is an expectation mismatch rather than a measured defect. Layer boundaries, air gaps and infill pattern all scatter light, so a thin single wall looks different from a thick solid part.
Running costs and value
The manufacturer store lists $14.99 per 1 kg, but orders under $50 carry a $15 standard shipping fee, so one spool comes to about $29.99 before tax. Orders of $50 or more ship free on the US mainland. The 5 kg mixed-color bundle posts $65.99, or $13.20 per kg, and the 10 kg bundle posts $119.99, or $12.00 per kg, though those bundles may contain assorted shades. Altex lists the same SKU at $29.99. Competing translucent PLA options include Amolen Crystal-Transparent at $22.99 and Polymaker Panchroma Translucent at $19.99. A good buy is $16 or less delivered per kilogram for matching filament with sealed packaging and a usable return process. Above $30 delivered, compare alternatives unless the ELEGOO look or a tuned profile is essential.
Warranty, returns and support
The manufacturer warranty table lists filaments under “No warranty,” even though the product page shows an “Up to 1 Year Warranty” banner. That banner covers other product classes, not a consumed spool. Direct-store returns are allowed within 14 days of receipt: unopened non-defective returns carry a 5% restocking fee, open-box but unused returns carry 15%, and used goods are excluded for ordinary non-defect returns. Quality issues must be raised within 14 days with pre-authorization. Contact the manufacturer through the US ticket form or info@elegoo.com, and keep the order number, carton label, photos, video and measurements. Altex sales follow that retailer’s own policy, which was not verified here.
Which model this is
This page covers ELEGOO PLA Translucent in 1.75 mm, 1 kg spools, sold under the neutral “Translucent” color. The newer dedicated “PLA Translucent” line offers Crystal White and several tinted shades, and the two are not proven to be the same polymer batch or SKU. Do not confuse it with ELEGOO transparent PC, translucent PETG, PLA Plus Clear, or Galaxy or Silk PLA, which use different settings and properties. Some reels carry an RFID tag, but its presence on this exact SKU is unverified. The Amazon listing for a similar translucent listing uses ASIN B0DM1WT26K.
