Summary

A compact enclosed 9K MSLA resin printer aimed at miniatures and other high-detail small parts.

Strengths

  • 18 µm XY detail is a visible step up from the 35 µm Mars 3 generation (Goonhammer).
  • Two hands-on reviews praised print quality, speed, noise and power draw (NikkTech, Goonhammer).
  • The 4-screw leveling is judged more secure than the older ball-joint design (Goonhammer).
  • The bundled air purifier v2.0, 4-inch touchscreen and Wi-Fi transfer are useful conveniences.
  • Enclosed body and a 12-month main-unit warranty in the US.

Weaknesses

  • First-layer adhesion and leveling trouble is the most repeated owner complaint in the threads.
  • Wi-Fi file sending failed for at least one owner after months; ELEGOO’s wiki documents connection faults.
  • The LCD is covered for only 3 months in the US, and release film is a no-warranty consumable.
  • The build surface is small at 153.36 × 77.76 mm, and the resin wash-and-cure workflow is a chore.
  • No independent test measured the claimed 150 mm/h speed.

Speeds and the 150 mm/h claim

The 150 mm/h figure needs ACF release film and ELEGOO rapid standard resin, and no independent test confirms it. The 18 µm XY number is the screen pixel pitch, not a measured minimum feature size; against a 35 µm Mars 3 Pro the fine-detail gain was real but modest at the same layer height.

Warranty, parts and running costs

The US warranty is 12 months for the machine, 3 months for the LCD and 6 months for the resin tank and build plate; release film, the acrylic cover and the carbon filter have no warranty. Spare parts are sold, but ELEGOO does not publish an official parts catalog for the Mars 4 Ultra. Recurring costs are 405 nm resin, 99% isopropyl alcohol, release film and a replacement LCD if it fails after the 3-month window.

Is it worth it?

ELEGOO’s US store lists the Mars 4 Ultra at $299.99 and the EU store at €239.00 (ELEGOO, 2026). Under $250 it is easy to recommend for miniature work; at $300 the newer Mars 5 Ultra at $259 on ELEGOO’s own site is a hard comparison to ignore. Reviewer street prices were around $310 in 2023 and $335.97 in mid-2024.

Which model this is

This page covers the Mars 4 Ultra. It is not the Mars 4 (70 mm/h, ball-joint leveling), the Mars 4 Max (6K), the Mars 4 DLP or the Mars 5 series. The US Amazon listing is ASIN B0HF4KB8VR.
