ELEGOO Mars 3 Pro: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-16
Summary
The Mars 3 Pro is a compact 4K mono-LCD resin printer whose owners most often report LCD-screen failures, FEP-related print failures and levelling trouble. Keeping one running means buying 405 nm resin, release film, isopropyl alcohol, carbon filters and eventually a replacement LCD screen, but the sources do not give enough priced items to total a yearly figure. ELEGOO’s US store lists the printer at $129.99 (down from $163.00) as of October 2026, below its launch-era pricing.
Common problems and fixes
- LCD screen failures — an r/ElegooMars owner reports a Mars 3 Pro screen issue fixed by swapping the screen; the mono LCD is a consumable and a replacement Mars 3 LCD costs about $50 for roughly 2,000 hours of life, while the US page shows 6 months for resin printers. [9][7][13]
- Center print failures tied to FEP — a Mars 3 Pro “not completely printing directly in the middle” was traced to FEP not cleaned between prints and a loose FEP sheet flexing in the center; clean the film each print and check its tension. [10]
- Odor despite the air purifier — the included activated-charcoal purifier reduces but does not eliminate resin odor, and Age of Miniatures warns carbon filtration does not make indoor resin printing safe without ventilation. [4][7]
- Resin heating and noise — resin in the vat reaches about 43 °C after a 4-hour print versus about 27 °C on a Mars 2 Pro, and the fans and motor run at about 30 dB and 40 dB. [7]
Parts and consumables
- Replacement LCD screen (Mars 3 series) — about $50 with roughly 2,000 hours of life, per Age of Miniatures (November 2022); it is a consumable wear item, not a covered part in the US listing. [7][13]
Yearly running cost
Not enough data. The recurring items are 405 nm resin, FEP/PFA release film, isopropyl alcohol, activated-carbon filters and the LCD screen; the only priced item in the sources is the replacement Mars 3 LCD at about $50 for roughly 2,000 hours of printing. [7][14]
When it is a good buy
- ELEGOO US store, October 2026: $129.99, marked down from $163.00; the May 2023 blog price was $239.99 after a coupon and the 2022 launch price was $350. [12][3][4]
- At or under $150 it is a strong entry pick; $151–200 is fair; above $200 it is hard to defend this model. [12]
- Newer ELEGOO models (Mars 4, Mars 5 and the Saturn line) become the better comparison in the sub-$200 resin category per All3DP’s 2026 guide. [11]
