Summary

A large-format MSLA resin printer released in April 2026, with a 14-inch 16K LCD and a 302 × 162 × 300 mm build envelope, for a workshop that can handle uncured photopolymer and early-software rough edges. Check your bench and your files first: the doors spread to about 1054.1 mm with the two doors open, and early firmware limited print files to 2 GB before the June 1 update raised that to 3.5 GB.

Strengths

  • Very large print envelope for the class, with 20 × 26 micrometer sampling across a 14-inch screen.
  • Heated 30 °C vat keeps cold shop conditions from turning the resin thick.
  • Motorized two-way feed and reclaim reduce the need to lift a wide, full vat by hand.
  • Quick-lock PFA frame swaps film in seconds instead of stretching screws.
  • Replacement LCD, tank, build plate and PFA film are listed and priced by the maker.
  • A second slicer (CHITUBOX) added profile support after launch, relieving the early SateLite-only workflow.

Weaknesses

  • The doors open sideways and need about 41.5 inches of clear space with both doors spread; the closed body is about 18.3 inches wide.
  • Early owners report pump leaks, overflowing resin during auto-fill, and resin near electrical connectors.
  • Autoleveling force-sensor readings have drifted between power cycles on at least one exact-model owner’s machine.
  • Self-test and reboot failures have cut prints short; no single confirmed electrical cause or universal firmware fix is published.
  • The chamber camera is poorly placed for catching a failed print, and its feed has been unreliable.
  • Safety kit in the box is a sample set; gloves, splash eye protection, ventilation, wash, cure and waste handling are owner problems.

Space and doors

Closed size is about 465 × 508.1 × 648 mm, but spreading the double doors needs about 1054.1 mm across. An April 2026 owner could not fit another printer next to it on a metal rack. Lay out the bench before ordering, and allow room at the rear for hoses and access to both doors.

Software and slicing

At launch the machine leaned on ELEGOO SateLite; a June 1, 2026 firmware release raised print-file support to 3.5 GB from an earlier 2 GB ceiling and improved app stability, and CHITUBOX added a Jupiter 2 profile in July 2026. Early owners reported file-size failures, slicer hangs and slow layer exposure. Export a small calibration print from the slicer you actually plan to use, and verify per-layer exposure numbers on the printer before committing a big job.

Owner reports and reliability

Reports are individual, not a failure rate. Pump leaks and auto-fill overflows are the most safety-critical accounts: one April 2026 buyer described a pump leaking at its module near a six-pin connection and mains cord, and another owner reported resin overflowing despite an on-screen overflow alarm. Other accounts include leveling drift, DA prints on arrival, slow or failed camera feeds, and long refund exchanges inside the 14-day window. Counter-evidence exists too: Tom’s Hardware printed minis and larger pieces, and an owner reports roughly 50 to 60 large or multipart jobs with minimal trouble aside from pump noise and speed.

Running costs

Factor roughly $25 for each PFA sheet (3 for $74.99), a $229.99 replacement LCD, a $93.99 vat with new liner and a $95.99 build plate. Resin runs from $18.99 to $21.99 per kilogram. A Mercury wash-and-cure unit is not in the $949 base; plan for it if you are not printing tiny parts.

Is it worth it?

At $949 the case rests on the envelope and the pixels across it. A competing Anycubic Photon Mono M7 Max is $649 on promotion with a similar 298 × 164 × 300 mm envelope but coarser 46 micrometer XY, and ELEGOO’s own Saturn 4 Ultra 16K is $499 for a smaller platform. Buy the Jupiter 2 when one part genuinely will not fit a smaller vat, and treat the software, doors and leak stories as the real purchase-time risk.

Which model this is

This is the April 2026 Jupiter 2 16K resin printer, hardware line ELEGOO Jupiter 2, distinct from the original Jupiter and the Jupiter SE. Match on the maker’s part number and the 14-inch 16K LCD rather than the “Jupiter” name alone.
