Summary
The catch is that there is no active noise cancellation, no ear detection, and the touch controls are hit and miss.
Strengths
- LDAC support is rare at this price and gives Android users a real upgrade in detail.
- IPX7 means the earbuds survive sweat and rain, and testers confirmed it holds up during exercise.
- Qi wireless charging and multipoint are uncommon in budget earbuds.
- Reviewers praised the sound for the money, with CNN Underscored calling them the best-sounding earbuds it tested at that price.
- The app offers EQ presets, custom controls, an LDAC switch and a find-my-earbuds tool.
- Up to 40 hours of total battery with LDAC off, plus a fast-charge top-up.
Weaknesses
- No active noise cancellation, and passive isolation is mediocre, so they struggle on a commute.
- Touch controls register multi-tap gestures unreliably.
- LDAC drains battery and shortens Bluetooth range.
- No automatic ear detection, so music does not pause when you remove a bud.
- The case hinge is thin, and the case is not waterproof despite the IPX7 buds.
- Reviews disagree on sound; What Hi-Fi? found them short on bass weight and treble refinement.

Sound quality and codecs
Sound is the selling point and the most contested part. CNN Underscored called them the best-sounding earbuds it had tested at their price, praising LDAC and the Classic EQ preset. What Hi-Fi? scored the sound lower, describing it as bright and enthusiastic but light on bass and cohesion. Headphones Addict found the default tuning bassy but fixable via EQ. The split suggests fit and personal taste matter as much as the drivers.
LDAC is the headline feature, but it does not work out of the box: it needs a firmware update, and enabling it disables multipoint. You also take a battery and range hit for it, which the next section covers.
Noise isolation and calls
There is no ANC here. Headphones Addict measured average passive isolation at about 11.01 dBA, which is fine in a quiet room and poor on a train or a plane. Calls rely on a 4-mic ENC array, and owners rate them acceptable for everyday use rather than for noisy streets. If noise blocking is the priority, this is the wrong product.
Battery, charging and range
Battery life is strong on paper: up to 9 hours per charge and 40 hours total with the case, both with LDAC off. Independent testing measured 7.5 hours with AAC, a little below the claim but still competitive. Turning LDAC on drops the figures to 5.5 hours and 23 hours total, and a test measured the Bluetooth range falling from 35 ft to 30 ft with LDAC active.
Controls and comfort
Multi-touch gestures often fail to register, and there are no physical buttons. Comfort is generally good for daily use, but What Hi-Fi? reported aching on long journeys, and Headphones Addict found the buds can work loose during intense movement. Silicone tips come in several sizes, and the circular shape is wider than most.
Warranty and care
EarFun advertises an 18-month warranty, which is above average for budget earbuds, though no long-term reliability data exists. The case is not waterproof, so keep it away from sweat. If one bud goes quiet, the manufacturer suggests cleaning the speaker mesh with a toothpick or a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. No parts catalogue or repair documentation was found, so these are replacement rather than repair items.
Is it worth it?
EarFun sells the Air 2 at $49.99, marked down from $69.99 (EarFun, 2026). For that money you get LDAC, IPX7, wireless charging, multipoint and 40 hours of battery, which is a lot of feature per dollar. If you want active noise cancellation or the most refined tuning, look at the competing models that spend the budget there instead. The key differentiator is LDAC at this price, so iOS users will get less out of it.
