Summary
A compact 4V inline cordless screwdriver for assembly, furniture and fixture work where a drill is overkill, sold as a 14-piece kit with 12 bits. Check the fixed 360 RPM top speed and the non-serviceable battery before you buy: there is no speed control, and sixty seconds of continuous use trips a cutoff.
Strengths
- The buttonless collar drives with a twist and a push, so there is no trigger to reach for mid-task.
- Six torque modes, soft start and two low-speed settings give it more delicacy than most 4V drivers.
- The quick-load collet holds bits firmly and swaps them one-handed.
- Four LEDs ring the collet, lighting the work area without a separate light.
- The integral 2Ah battery is rated for up to 680 machine screws per charge and recharges over USB in about 60 minutes.
- At 8.4 inches and 0.7 lb, it rides in a pouch like a manual screwdriver.
Weaknesses
- The battery is integral and not serviceable; when it wears out, the pack needs replacement.
- Sixty seconds of continuous use trips a cutoff and a 90-second lockout, which can interrupt long assembly runs.
- Charging pauses under the hot/cold delay when the battery sits outside the safe temperature range.
- The FLEXDRIVE collar has a learning curve.
- Owner evidence beyond one r/Dewalt launch thread is thin, and no long-term failure data exists.

The FLEXDRIVE collar
The collar replaces every button: twist the ring to pick forward or reverse, push it forward to drive. DEWALT’s gyroscopic screwdrivers are discontinued, so this is the only DEWALT cordless screwdriver that fits the hand like a traditional screwdriver.
Battery, charging and runtime
DEWALT rates the integral 2Ah pack at up to 680 machine screws per charge, defined as 1/2-inch #6 screws driving a switch or outlet wall plate at clutch level 2; the Canadian page separately claims up to 1,300 screws for low-resistance applications. Real counts vary with screw, material and torque setting. Recharging takes about 60 minutes over USB-C, and a 3-LED indicator shows the charge level. Charging runs best at 65-75°F: a hot/cold delay suspends it outside the safe range. The battery is not serviceable — the manual FAQ says a pack that no longer holds a charge may need replacement.
Cutoff and lockout
The tool cuts off after 60 seconds of continuous operation and locks out for 90 seconds, with electronic protection against overloading. Nobody has tested whether this annoys in real assembly use, so treat it as a spec to plan around rather than a known defect.
Is it worth it?
MaxTool and Northern Tool list the kit at $89.99 (October 2026), Ohio Power Tool at $97.79 and ToolOrbit at $117.42. Pro Tool Reviews noted a $79.99 street price at most retailers in March 2025, and Slashgear reported around $80 in September 2025. At $80 or less it is compelling for assembly, furniture, cabinet and fixture work where a drill is overkill. In the $89.99-97.79 band it is fair-to-good value: the Dremel HSES-01 matches the 44 in-lbs for $49.99, the Skil Twist 2.0 is $29.99 with 22 in-lbs and 3 modes, and the Kobalt 4V is $24.99 with 13.5 in-lbs. Slashgear notes the Milwaukee competitor costs about twice as much and includes no bits. Above $120 the budget alternatives undercut it unless the collar concept or the DEWALT service network is the reason to buy.
Which model this is
This page covers the DWHT66719 14-piece kit, UPC 076174442663, a brushed-motor inline driver that one retailer lists as the replacement for the older DCF682N1 and DCF680N1 4V screwdrivers. Do not confuse it with the discontinued DEWALT gyroscopic drivers or the 12V MAX DCF601 pistol-grip screwdriver. The US Amazon listing is ASIN B0DJBQ9ZBF.
