Summary
A two-tool 20V MAX XR kit with a two-speed hammer drill and a three-speed impact driver, powered by two 4Ah XR POWERPACK batteries. Check the anti-rotation cutoff on the DCD806 before you buy: some owners find it shuts down too readily in big-bit work.
Strengths
- The DCF845 is faster than its predecessor: 9.1 seconds for an 8-inch 1/4" screw versus 12.6 for the DCF887 and 15.5 for the DCF850.
- Anti-rotation control and a compact head help when drilling overhead.
- Two 4Ah POWERPACK batteries let one charge while the other runs a tool.
- 3-year tool warranty with parts diagrams and model-specific manuals.
- Drill and impact work lights help in dark spaces.
Weaknesses
- Some owners report the DCD806 anti-rotation cutoff tripping too readily in large-bit work.
- A 2023 owner reported a DCF845 that flashed its LED without starting on the first trigger pull, with a service replacement not fixing it.
- Heavy drill work can bind suddenly; no side handle is included with the DCD806.
- Impact accessories can fail before the tool; high-torque 1/4" drive can break socket adapters.
- The exact bundled charger model and charge time are not documented.
- Soft contractor bag, not a molded hard case.

Full research notes and sources
Drilling and driving
The DCD806 is a compact two-speed 1/2-inch hammer drill. The anti-rotation system can interrupt power if the tool binds, which is useful for wrist protection but reported by some owners as too sensitive.
Problems and reliability
Reliability data is thin. On August 3, 2025 several r/DeWalt owners said a DCD806 shut off too readily, with one returning it the same day. A 2023 DCF845 owner reported the LED flashing on the first trigger pull without the motor turning, and a service-center motor replacement did not fix it; commenters described similar behavior. A 2024 owner said a Type 1 DCF845 spun freely but stalled at minor resistance, and cycling the speed selector restored it. These are individual reports, not a failure rate, and there is no published model-specific defect percentage for this exact kit.
Parts, batteries and running costs
The kit ships with two DCB2104 4Ah tabless POWERPACK packs, a charger, two belt hooks and a soft bag; it does not include bits, sockets, a side handle or a hard case. DEWALT says the packs deliver 50% more power than conventional DCB240 4Ah, though the footnote compares them with DCB240 rather than in a real application. The exact bundled charger model and charge time are not documented on the kit page, so read the charger label before planning recharge time. A two-pack of spare DCB2104 batteries lists at $269 at Lowe’s without a charger.
Running costs are low. There is no subscription for local drilling or driving, and both motors are brushless, so there are no brushes to replace. Electricity for a full year of heavy charging is a few dollars. A $299 kit kept useful for five years works out to about $59.80 a year before batteries, bits and service, which is not a lifetime promise.
Is it worth it?
At $299 the kit is a reasonable complete XR purchase for someone who drills and drives fasteners regularly. At $369 it is less attractive unless stock or a specific job needs it: a $249 ATOMIC kit covers lighter work, and a $399 larger XR kit offers a three-speed hammer drill. Below $260 from an authorized new seller would be a strong buy.
Which model this is
This page covers the DEWALT DCK250QQ2, the 20V MAX XR two-tool kit with the DCD806 two-speed hammer drill, the DCF845 three-speed impact driver and two DCB2104 4Ah POWERPACK batteries. It is not DCK2101QQ2 (a different three-speed hammer drill), DCK2112QQ2 (DCD1007 and DCF860) or the ATOMIC DCK225D2. Acme Tools lists the kit UPC 885911999731, and Lowe’s item number is 6777194.
