Summary
A light 5-inch brushless random orbital sander for DEWALT 20V MAX owners who already have the batteries, and it stays comfortable over long sanding sessions. Check the dust port before you buy: it fits DEWALT extractors natively, and a non-DEWALT shop vac needs the optional DWV9000 adapter.
Strengths
- Light and compact at about 1.9 lb bare, so it stays comfortable over long sanding sessions.
- The dust-sealed switch and one-handed locking dust bag are the kind of touches that show up in real use.
- Owners and reviewers consistently praise low weight, reliable performance and sturdy build quality.
- The 8-hole hook-and-loop pad is widely available, so replacement sandpaper is easy to find.
- The included dust bag is repeatedly described as better than most.
Weaknesses
- The dust port is proprietary; a non-DEWALT shop vac needs the optional DWV9000 adapter, the most common criticism.
- Popular Woodworking measured the dust bag capturing only 61% of the dust created.
- Runtime drops sharply under heavy lower-grit work; Popular Woodworking got just 16.5 minutes from a 2.0Ah battery.
- It can feel short for guiding from the front, and larger FlexVolt packs (6.0/9.0Ah) are heavy enough to tip it over.
- A Reddit owner reports the RPMs slowing as the battery nears empty, unlike a corded sander.
- A separate thread reports the sander turning off after about a minute before being restarted.

Full research notes and sources
Runtime and battery
The DCW210 runs from the DEWALT 20V MAX platform, so it shares batteries and chargers with the rest of that lineup. Runtime depends on the pack and the grit. Heavier lower-grit work, such as paint removal, can cut runtime by half or more.
Dust collection
The recurring criticism is the dust port. In its test, Popular Woodworking measured the included dust bag capturing 61% of the dust created. A PSA (sticky) replacement pad exists as service part N373679, and the hook-and-loop pad is DWE64233.
Reliability and owner reports
There is little hard reliability data. A Reddit owner notes the RPMs slow as the battery nears empty, unlike a corded sander. A separate thread reports the sander turning off after about a minute before being restarted. Neither supports a defect-rate estimate, but both are worth knowing. DEWALT publishes an exploded diagram, and the hook-and-loop pad (DWE64233) and PSA pad (N373679) are available as service parts; full internal motor and electronics parts were not confirmed.
Is it worth it?
At roughly $98–120 for the bare tool the DCW210 is a reasonable light-duty buy for someone already on the DEWALT 20V MAX platform. Above that, compare the newer DCW211, which DEWALT says has up to 40% less vibration and adds the AirLock dust system and Wireless Tool Control. Walmart lists the DCW210D1 kit at $168.99 and a DCW210B bundle with a DCB203 2.0Ah battery at $146.41 (Walmart, 2026). Acme Tools listed the DCW210D1 kit on clearance at $196.92. Popular Mechanics listed the DCW210B at $179 with a $98 deal and a $149 Lowe’s price shown (2026). The kit is worth it mainly if you need the 2.0Ah battery and charger, since the 5.0Ah kit delivers far more measured runtime.
Which model this is
This page covers the DCW210 family: DCW210B (tool only), DCW210D1 (2.0Ah kit) and DCW210P1 (5.0Ah kit). Do not merge it with the newer DCW211, the 6-inch DCW230, the 1/4-sheet DCW200 or the corded DWE6423; those share branding but differ in orbit size, vibration and dust system.
