Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

An entry-level 23.8-inch 1080p gaming monitor with a 240Hz Fast IPS panel, low input lag at any refresh rate and consistently fast response for competitive play. Check the stand before you buy: it tilts only, so height, swivel and pivot adjustment need a VESA arm.

Strengths

  • Native 240Hz refresh with support for all common VRR formats.
  • Low input lag at any refresh rate.
  • Consistently fast response time in testing.
  • AMD FreeSync Premium for variable refresh on compatible cards.
  • TUV Rheinland 3-star eye comfort with a flicker-free backlight and low blue light.
  • VESA 100 mm x 100 mm mount for an arm or wall bracket.

Weaknesses

  • Inverse ghosting at low refresh rates.
  • Low contrast ratio with no local dimming, so dark scenes look flat.
  • Narrow HDR color gamut with muted highlights; HDR is listed but adds little.
  • Tilt-only stand, so height, swivel and pivot need a VESA arm.
  • No speakers, no USB hub and no USB-C; audio is a headphone jack only.
  • 99% sRGB coverage only, with no wide-gamut DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB claim.

Motion, panel and HDR

It calls the SE2426HG a decent budget gaming monitor: low input lag at any refresh rate, a consistently fast response time and support for all common VRR formats. The 0.5 ms GtG figure is the Extreme-mode overdrive result; the other modes are 1 ms, 3 ms and 5 ms. The documented downsides are inverse ghosting at low refresh rates, a low contrast ratio with no local dimming, and a narrow HDR color gamut with muted highlights. RTINGS also found the viewing angle just okay and bright-room visibility limited. It places the monitor above the 144Hz SE2426H and below the 27-inch SE2726HGS, and names the ViewSonic XG2431 and LG 24GS65F-B as direct competitors.

Stand, ports and desk setup

The stand tilts from -5 to +21 degrees and does nothing else; there is no height, swivel or pivot adjustment, so plan on a VESA arm if you want the screen at eye level. Dell’s product pages list the SE2426HG as tilt-only, while RTINGS lists its tested unit with a height- and tilt-adjustable stand; the difference is unresolved, possibly a regional SKU. Ports are two HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort 1.4. The HDMI ports use the older HDMI 2.1 TMDS signalling, which on this 1080p240 panel means 240Hz over HDMI rather than full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1, and the bundled cable is labelled HDMI 2.0. There are no speakers and no USB hub, so audio is a 3.5 mm headphone jack only.

Repairs, warranty and running costs

Routine ownership is power, a wipe of the screen and, if the stand is not enough, an aftermarket VESA arm. Dell publishes a Simplified Service Manual for the SE2426HG on its US support site, covering monitor views, safety guidelines, hardware replacement procedures and troubleshooting, which is a modest repairability positive; whether individual parts are sold was not verified. Warranty is reported as three years for China and referenced for a UK listing, but US terms were not verified. Running cost is electricity: about 14.0 W in on mode, 0.3 W standby and 0.3 W off.

Which model this is

This page covers the Dell 24 240Hz Monitor, model SE2426HG, regulatory model SE2426HGc, with a tilt-only stand and a 23.8-inch panel. Dell’s user’s guide covers it alongside the 27-inch SE2726HG, and the two share a platform. Part numbers differ by market: 210-BTTJ in the US, 210-BTND in India, 210-BTTF in Ireland, 210-BTMW in Korea. RTINGS tests and names the unit SE2426HGS; whether the trailing S is a different regional SKU or a listing variant is unresolved. Do not confuse it with the 144Hz SE2426H, the 27-inch SE2726HG or older Dell gaming lines such as the S2421HGF. The Amazon listing carries ASIN B0GKFLQ9SW.

Is it worth it?

At roughly $106 to $140 this is a reasonable entry-level 240Hz 1080p IPS monitor. The China launch price was 749 yuan, about $106; Dell Canada listed it at CAD 139.99 in the December 2025 era, and Dell Ireland listed EUR 92.00 excluding VAT. RTINGS files it in its Under $200 bracket. Above about $150 to $200 the documented weaknesses, low contrast, muted HDR, inverse ghosting at low refresh, a tilt-only stand and no speakers, get harder to accept while better-equipped 1080p 240Hz IPS options exist. Dell USA listed the 144Hz SE2426H sibling at $99.99, useful as a bracket rather than this model’s price. Owner evidence is thin: a r/Monitors thread on the SE2426HG exists but its content could not be read, so there is no reliable owner praise or complaint pattern to report.
