Dell 15 DC15250 (Core 3 100U): problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-11

Summary

The DC15250’s two consistent weak points are the display — 51% sRGB and 41% DCI-P3 measured, 250 nits rated (290 measured at the center) with 201 Hz PWM dimming below full brightness — and the 41 Wh battery, which returned 5h12m of video playback in testing while competing laptops with 53-55 Wh packs lasted 2 to 5 hours longer. The base configuration’s single-channel 8 GB RAM measurably caps performance, and there are no consumables and no subscription lock-in: RAM, storage, battery and Wi-Fi are user-replaceable. At $420-430 street prices (Walmart and Best Buy snapshots, October 2026) it is a coherent budget buy; at Dell’s own $699.99 list it is not.

Parts and consumables

Yearly running cost

Not enough data. The research files give no electricity rate or usage hours, and there are no scheduled consumables: no cartridges, filters or subscriptions are documented, and RAM, storage, battery and Wi-Fi are user-replaceable rather than shop-serviced [6] [12]. Any RAM or SSD upgrade is a one-off purchase, and no part prices were captured in the research. The only ownership anchor is the 1-year warranty listed by CHOICE (Australia); exact US terms for this configuration are unconfirmed [12].
