Summary
A 14-cup glass-carafe drip brewer whose case rests on capacity and an adjustable warming plate. Check how much you actually brew: the carafe holds about 70 oz, and owners widely report the basket overflowing before a full pot.
Strengths
- True 14-cup capacity that few competitors match.
- A three-position warming plate, unusual at this price.
- 24-hour programming, a 0–4 hour auto-off and a 1–4 cup setting that changes the brew profile.
- Gold-tone metal filter and charcoal filter included.
- Cuisinart sells replacement parts directly, including a carafe lid.
- A 3-year warranty, longer than many pricier machines.
Weaknesses
- Owners widely report leaks and dripping.
- Filter overflow near full capacity is a recurring complaint.
- Some owners find the timer and buttons confusing.
- Brew water was measured at 192°F, on the low side.
- The glass carafe is the most fragile part, and the sealed base blocks DIY repair.
- Coffee comes out lukewarm for some owners even with the plate on high.

Capacity and brewing
The reason to buy this machine is capacity. Fourteen cups on the manufacturer’s scale is 5 oz per cup, so the carafe holds about 70 oz, and one independent tester notes that few 14-cup brewers exist and this is the best of the ones it has tried. The feature set is closer to the top of the drip class than the bottom: 24-hour programming, auto-off from 0 to 4 hours, Regular and Bold strength, a 1–4 cup setting, Brew Pause, a 60-second reset that resumes after a brief power loss, a toggleable end-of-brew tone, a side water window and a self-clean cycle.
Only two outlets measurably tested it. One recorded about 8 minutes for a full carafe on Regular and under 10 on Bold, and measured brew water at an average of 192°F, which it called low. Consumer Reports states the machine met its recommended guideline of 195°F or more held for five or six minutes. Those two numbers disagree and no reason is published. There is no test of this exact model from RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, CNET or PCMag.
Water handling and owner reports
The uncomfortable side is water. An aggregation of 11 verified owner verdicts from 232 comments across four communities reports 45% of owners flagging leaks and dripping, 27% flagging filter overflow near full capacity and 27% flagging confusing timer and button controls. The individual cases are concrete: a unit returned because it wobbled on its plastic feet, a unit that drips from the lid and the carafe while pouring and is messy to fill, and a warranty replacement that threw an error code after one use. Several owners say you cannot actually brew a full 14 cups before the basket overflows, and one caps batches at about 9 cups. No manufacturer statement on maximum safe fill was found.
Reviewers hit softer versions of the same issues: the reservoir is awkward to refill because the carafe lid does not open wide enough, the carafe lip makes it hard to empty completely, and the 1–4 cup setting may not brew hot enough. Two smaller things matter: Brew Pause does not stop water entering the basket, so a pause longer than 20 seconds risks overflow, and there is no hot-water function or high-altitude setting.
Maintenance, parts and warranty
Ownership costs are mostly filter-driven. The charcoal filter is recommended every 60 days, with a tester suggesting a longer real-world interval in normal water. Cuisinart sells the charcoal filters, the water filter holder, the filter basket holder and a carafe lid for select 14-cup models directly, which is a real advantage for a machine whose most likely casualty is the glass carafe. It is bounded, though: the booklet states there are no user-serviceable parts inside and the base panel must not be removed.
Warranty is 3 years for US retail consumers, repair or replacement at Cuisinart’s option, with in-transit damage excluded.
