Summary
A 2.5K WiFi baby camera with no parent unit, so you watch on a phone or tablet and the AI safety alerts need a permanent home WiFi connection because they run in the cloud. The covered-face alert has tested over-sensitive, so try that feature inside the 45-day return window.
Strengths
- 2.5K QHD image on a 135-degree lens, rated the best day and night picture in one tester’s experience.
- 72 hours of playback without a subscription.
- Dual-band WiFi with an in-app connection-quality diagnostic.
- Camera-based growth tracking that no other monitor in the compared set offers.
- A 45-day satisfaction guarantee and a patch history running from July 2025 through August 2026.
- Temperature and humidity readings accurate enough to show the effect of a humidifier.
Weaknesses
- No parent unit and no screen: you depend on your phone, and one tester kept a backup monitor at night.
- The covered-face alert is over-sensitive. One tester logged 100 notifications overnight for a side-sleeping baby.
- It cannot work without a permanent home WiFi connection; hotspots and open networks are not supported.
- One year of Care Premium is included, then the device drops to the Basic tier, with deeper analytics and longer retention paid.
- The one-year warranty is short for the price, and no replacement-parts channel was found.
- The floor stand needs a filled water bag to stay put, and the setup cable routing is fiddly.

The camera, the app and what the money buys
The Monitor 3 is camera-only: no parent unit, no screen, everything on a phone or tablet. The camera is the strongest part of the package. It is a 2.5K QHD sensor behind a 135-degree lens, 221 g and 3.4 × 4.2 × 4.4 in, with night vision, a rear night-light strip, two-way audio, lullabies and temperature and humidity sensing built into the cable rather than a dongle. Fathercraft’s testers, who had used earlier CuboAi generations, put its day and night image quality above every other monitor they had tested and found the temperature and humidity readings accurate enough to react to a humidifier. Mother&Baby scored screen quality 5.0 and durability 5.0, and reported quick covered-face and rollover notifications with a clear night mode. Both noted that setup is easy but fiddly, with threading the power cable through the stand the hardest step.
Alerts, cloud dependence and the covered-face problem
Covered-face, rollover, cry and cough detection all run through cloud AI, so the camera has to stay on a permanent, password-protected home WiFi network. WEP and WPA-TKIP are discouraged, mobile hotspots are not recommended, and the unit will not work without internet at all. CuboAi claims detection is 6x faster than the previous generation, a figure Tech Advisor could not verify. Fathercraft’s testers saw cry notifications arrive one to two seconds after the crying started and no false alarms from the optional sleep sensor pad. Their biggest complaint was the covered-face alert: a side-sleeping baby with a hand near her face produced 100 notifications overnight, and the feature can be switched off. If covered-face alerts are the reason you are buying, test that behaviour in the first weeks.
Subscriptions and running costs
One year of CuboAi Care Premium is included and starts at first pairing, so pairing starts the clock. Premium is listed from $6.67 a month on an annual plan and Ultimate from $9.99 a month, while Consumer Reports puts the app at $0 to $7.99 a month. CuboAi’s own position is that after the first year the device drops to the free Basic tier and that cry detection, temperature alerts and cough tracking stay free for life. Growth-tracking records are kept 30 days on Premium and 90 days on Ultimate, and Fathercraft notes that daytime nap analytics need a subscription while basic night-time figures do not. Beyond the optional sleep sensor pad’s batteries, there are no consumables.
What independent testing says
Consumer Reports has the exact model in its lab program and places it fourth of 11 tested WiFi video monitors, behind the Eufy Baby Monitor E20 at 88, the Nanit Pro at 84 and the Owlet Dream Duo 2 at 80, but the Monitor 3’s own score and its Features, Data privacy and Data security sub-scores sit behind the membership wall, so no lab number for this product can be quoted. No RTINGS, Wirecutter or PCMag test of this generation was found, and Tom’s Guide’s CuboAi review is of the 2021 CuboAi Plus. On the exact model, Mother&Baby rates it 4.5 with 5.0 across interface, durability, design, ease of use and screen quality, and 4.0 for ease of setup. The takeaway is that the camera hardware and sensors review well, while the scored lab placement is mid-table.
Price and is it worth it
US direct pricing at check time was $199 for the Wall Mount Set against a $239 compare-at, and the Floor Stand Set was last readable at $299 against a $359 compare-at. Consumer Reports lists the Monitor 3 at $300.00, and the Mobile Stand Kit accessory is $45. At the wall-mount price this is a reasonable buy for a parent who wants phone-based monitoring and the cloud alerts, with the 2.5K sensor, 72-hour subscription-free playback and the 45-day return window. At the floor-stand price the tested alternatives in Consumer Reports’ table are cheaper and scored higher, with the Eufy Baby Monitor E20 listed from $139.99 and the Nanit Pro with floor stand from $289.99. Check the store panel above for current prices.
Reliability and support
The readable owner threads are about CuboAi Plus and Gen 1, so their complaints, including dropped connections, dropped audio, constant “baby is not breathing” alerts from the sleep sensor pad, and support some owners describe as unusable after the one-year warranty, are brand-level signals rather than Monitor 3 defect rates. What they do suggest is that the failure modes most likely to matter are software and network problems rather than camera hardware, and that CuboAi’s response has historically been firmware updates. The app changelog shows a steady cadence, with releases from July 2025 through August 2026 repeatedly citing connectivity and stability fixes, and Fathercraft reports that a connection issue they hit on Gen 3 was fixed by a CuboAi update. Repairability is undocumented: no exploded view, spare-parts list or replacement-camera price was found. The warranty is a 45-day satisfaction guarantee plus a 1-year limited warranty, with the repair process running up to 45 days and any repair done at CuboAi’s Taiwan centre carrying a 90-day warranty.
Which model this is
This page covers the CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 3, sold in Floor Stand Set and Wall Mount Set bundles. Camera serial numbers on the Monitor 3 begin with “SW”. Don’t merge it with the older CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor (Gen 1) or the CuboAi Plus; several owner threads found in this research are about those earlier models. The US listing is ASIN B0D6BM1KZN.
