Creality Space Pi V2 Plus: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-17
Summary
The dual-spool Space Pi V2 Plus heats to 75 °C, which reaches PC and PA-CF that the older 70 °C Space Pi models cannot, but the V1-family feedback it draws on shows a recurring chamber humidity floor of about 13–15% (one owner saw 32%) plus reports of spool drag, fan noise and an occasionally unresponsive touchscreen. Keeping it running costs little: at the rated 160 W, two eight-hour cycles a week come to 133.12 kWh a year, about $26.62 at an assumed $0.20/kWh. It is a strong buy below $90 and still fair to about $110.
Common problems and fixes
- Humidity floor — V1 Plus owners report the chamber stalling around 13–15% RH no matter how long it runs, one seeing 32%, against the roughly 4% some filament makers recommend; several finish spools in vacuum bags with desiccant. No instrumented V2 Plus test shows whether the new sensor changes this. [4][5]
- Spool drag and PTFE tube movement — V1-family owners report hard pulling, poor print quality and extrusion slipping when feeding directly, and an October 15, 2026 forum post describes an unanchored PTFE tube sliding into the box and braking the spool. Check free-turning rollers and tube seating before a critical print. [9][10]
- E4 heating error — multiple owners of the predecessor Plus reported E4 shutdowns and returns, with some offered controller boards; there is no evidence the V2 Plus kept the fault, so record it and send it to Creality under warranty. [7][8]
- Fan noise — a V1 owner found the fan loud enough to move the dryer to another room; no noise measurements were found. [6]
- One temperature schedule for two rolls — both spools share a single chamber and heater, so PLA and PA-CF that need different settings cannot dry together. Run separate cycles. [3]
Parts and consumables
- PTFE guide tube — Creality sells a 1 m low-resistance star-shaped PTFE tube for $11.58 (Creality US store, October 2026); it is a generic accessory, not confirmed as the exact supplied tube. Replace if abraded, bent or worn. [15]
- Silica-gel desiccant — a five-pack of Dry & Dry rechargeable 100 g packets was $14.99 at Walmart in October 2026; optional for separate sealed storage, not a V2 Plus consumable. [16]
Yearly running cost
At the rated 160 W, an 8-hour cycle twice a week is 0.160 kW × 8 h × 2 × 52 = 133.12 kWh a year; at an assumed US household price of $0.20/kWh that is $26.62 per year, about $0.26 for one eight-hour session. Heater cycling, load and the actual US-unit nameplate can change the result. Adding one optional five-pack of rechargeable desiccant ($14.99) brings a first-year sample to $41.61. There is no subscription, filter or mandatory consumable.
When it is a good buy
At $89.00 from the Creality US store in October 2026 (marked down from $104.25) it is a strong buy for a two-spool dryer that reaches 75 °C; the Creality VIP Mall listed a US-plug unit at $102.49 in the same month, and the EU store listed €99.00 [1][2][14]. Between $90 and $110 it stays fair, especially where a US-plug unit is hard to find. Above $110, consider the alternatives below.
- Sovol SH02 — $59.99 at the Sovol store in October 2026; a better pick when 70 °C is enough and lower cost matters. [12]
- SUNLU FilaDryer S4 — from $116.99 at the SUNLU store in October 2026; better when you rotate more than two spools, at a 70 °C ceiling. [13]
- Creality SpacePi X4 — $159 at the Creality US store in October 2026; better for engineering filaments and separate chamber temperatures, with four spools and up to 85 °C. [14]
