Summary

Reverse-engineering software from KVS Ltd that turns 3D scan meshes into editable CAD models, sold by Creality as a one-year, three-year or permanent license. Check which edition you are buying: the 30-day free trial is Pro only, so a Lite license cannot be tried first.

Strengths

  • Turns scanner meshes into editable CAD with IGES and STEP export.
  • Lite covers mesh repair, alignment, 2D sectioning, sketching and solid extrude and revolve.
  • Pro adds hybrid parametric and free-form modelling, loft and trim tools, and a deviation analyser.
  • The tutorial library is large, with more than 175 YouTube videos.
  • Pro pricing undercuts enterprise scan-to-CAD tools such as Geomagic Design X.

Weaknesses

  • The 30-day trial is Pro only, so a Lite buyer cannot test Lite before paying.
  • Lite’s maintenance and update entitlement after year 1 is undocumented.
  • Activation needs an online license server, with documented failures from wrong codes, firewalls, antivirus and missed deactivation.
  • The EULA grants a license, not ownership, and commercial use needs a separate license.
  • No current independent test exists; the only one covers version 1.0 from 2019.

Lite versus Pro

The two editions differ on tools, not just price. Creality’s comparison table gives Lite mesh editing and repair, de-feature, primitives, fit surface, alignment, 2D sectioning, 3D sketching, extrude and revolve solids, basic autosurface, and IGES and STEP export. Pro adds CAD import, automatic segmentation, loft, sweep, trim, boolean and patterns, shell and offset, fillet and chamfer, hybrid parametric and free-form modelling, a real-time deviation analyser and Parasolid export. If the work needs loft, trim or hybrid modelling, Lite will not do it.

Trial, maintenance and activation

Two cautions apply before buying. The 30-day free trial covers QUICKSURFACE Pro only, so there is no way to evaluate Lite itself. And Lite’s update and support entitlement after year 1 is not stated anywhere: the maintenance page names only Pro and the SOLIDWORKS add-in as including one year of maintenance, which starts on activation day and is optional to renew, with missed periods billed up to a 1,200 EUR cap. Activation depends on an online license server, with an offline fallback by email, and documented failure causes include a wrong code, firewall or antivirus blocking, and forgetting to deactivate an old machine.

Evidence and pricing

The evidence base is thin. The one credible independent review is DEVELOP3D’s 2019 look at QuickSurface 1.0, which found the free-form approach strong on organic shapes but problematic around sharp edges on heavily prismatic parts, and no current-version test from any established outlet exists. No QUICKSURFACE-specific owner threads surface in indexed search results. On price, Creality lists Lite 1-Year at $540, and three consecutive Lite years approach the Pro 1-Year price of $1,900. A 20% launch discount announced in December 2025 may or may not still be active. For paid engineering work, check the commercial-use terms and validate the Pro trial before committing to multi-year pricing.

Which license this is

This product is a time-limited license, most likely the one-year edition, not a perpetual purchase. The EULA states the software is licensed, not sold, and that commercial use requires a separate license from KVS Ltd. Creality sells the same listing with Lite and Pro variants side by side, so confirm the exact edition and term in the cart before paying. Support is handled at support@quicksurface.com.
