Creality QUICKSURFACE Lite/Pro (1-Year): problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-17

Summary

QUICKSURFACE is Windows reverse-engineering software from KVS Ltd that converts 3D scan meshes (STL/OBJ/PLY) into editable CAD models; Creality has resold it since late 2025 alongside its 3D scanners, and the seed product is the 1-year license, not a perpetual one. The recurring problems are license friction rather than crashes: no Lite trial exists, activation depends on an online license server, and Lite’s post-year-one update entitlement is undocumented. The running cost is the license itself — $540 per year at list for Lite — with maintenance renewal costs beyond year 1 unpublished.

Common problems and fixes

Parts and consumables

No replaceable parts or consumables reported; the product is a digital license with email delivery. The only ongoing item is maintenance renewal, which for Pro (and the SOLIDWORKS add-in) is included for 1 year from activation, optional to renew afterward, with missed periods billed up to a 1,200 EUR cap. [1][7]

Yearly running cost

The Lite license is annual by definition: $540 per year at list, and three consecutive Lite years ($1,620) approach the Pro 1-Year price of $1,900. Maintenance renewal costs beyond year 1 are not published on the public maintenance page, and whether the December 2025 20% launch discount is still active is unknown, so a firm yearly figure beyond year 1 cannot be computed. When it is a good buy

At $540 for one year (Creality store, 2026-10 read) it is plausible for a hobbyist or maker who already owns a compatible scanner and needs mesh-to-CAD conversion with IGES/STEP export, given the cautions above. At the All3DP-reported $485/year (December 2025) it is better, but still a recurring cost with no trial and unclear maintenance inclusion. If the work needs loft, trim, hybrid modelling or a deviation analyser, the Pro edition at $1,900 for one year is the better choice because it can be validated in the 30-day trial first. Pro 3-Year ($4,475) and Pro Permanent ($5,880) are the credible picks versus enterprise scan-to-CAD tools such as Geomagic Design X, and the scanner-plus-software combo at $2,385 is the better value when a scanner is also needed. For paid engineering work, confirm the commercial license terms first. [1][14][4][22][5][13]
