Creality Low-Resistance Star-Shaped PTFE Tube 1m: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-24
Summary
Owners report mixed feeding results with this star-bore tube: some K2/CFS installs jam less, while others see more drag with TPU, PPA and PETG near spool ends. At 11.58 USD per meter (Creality US store, October 2026) it costs 11.58 USD a year replaced once or 23.16 USD twice. It is a cheap reversible test only when the path geometry and bore suit the machine; ordinary 2.5 mm guide tubing is the safer buy for Bambu-style paths.
Common problems and fixes
- More drag with TPU and PPA — an August 2025 Bambu H2-series owner reported more drag with TPU/PPA and could not load PPA even when assisting; measured about 1.85 mm across the star ribs. Fix is to use machine-spec guide tubing; Creality lists PTFE tubes and connectors as consumables with no warranty. [4][10]
- CFS roll-end PETG jams — a September-October 2026 Creality user reported PETG very tight near the end of a spool after installing 4 m star tubing plus a firmware update; moving filament to standard white tubing gave freer movement. Cause not isolated. [7]
- Bambu Filament Track Switch incompatibility — an August 2026 H2D owner had feeding problems after adding a Filament Track Switch; community quotes 2.5 mm ID / 4 mm OD guidance. The tube may not be the sole cause. [13]
- Push vs pull behave differently — an October 2025 BambuLab thread reports more resistance when pushing and less when pulling. [6]
- Tight bore vs 2.5 mm guide paths — star ribs measured about 1.85 mm against a 2.5 mm official guide bore, which can trap flexible filament. Check the actual machine bore before replacing. [4][13]
- Abrasive filament wear — CF/GF can wear PTFE; inspect for debris or rough spots instead of assuming the star profile is abrasion-proof. [3][4][9]
- No warranty coverage — Creality lists PTFE tubes and connectors as consumables with no warranty, so do not assume 12 months of coverage on a separately purchased tube. [10]
- Cut and installation errors — a clean square cut, chamfered ends and correctly seated fittings matter; a tubing cutter is not confirmed included. [5][9]

Yearly running cost
No electricity or subscription: the tube is passive. At 11.58 USD per meter (Creality US store, October 2026), replacing once per year is 11.58 USD/year and twice per year is 23.16 USD/year; these are assumed scenarios, not manufacturer-endorsed lifetimes. Shipping and tax excluded.
When it is a good buy
Named alternatives: Capricorn TL smooth (9.99 USD at Micro Center Tustin) for standard Bowden paths; Capricorn XS (11.99 USD) for close-fit Bowden tubes; FYSETC smooth 2.5 mm ID x 4 mm OD (7.99 USD) for Bambu-style guides. [11][12][15]
